Actually... I won't be able to afford breakfast... I didn't realize how dirt broke I am at the moment...

Don't worry about it (unless that means you can't afford breakfast for yourself. In any case, I'll come bearing pop-tarts, breakfast of champions).
I might arrive a little earlier or later than 8, depending on when I find your place. I'll see you soon.

Half the time, it's busy and boring, the other half it's annoyingly challenging (my Anatomy and Physiology II and Creative Writing courses respectively). It's a shame to have to memorize stuff I'll probably never use (even if I do go into the medical field). I mean, I highly doubt stabbing someone with a needle requires an intimate knowledge of adrenocorticotropin releasing hormone.
The creative writing class, however, is pretty fun. The only problem is when I write something I think is particularly intense and the prof. says that I haven't "pushed it far enough," I have no idea what the heck she means. And unfortunately, I can't just say "I dunno, looks good to me" or I'll be failing the course. So while I'm learning quite a bit and am becoming a better writer, I'm also discovering that I'm pretty lazy. So...not a good combination.
Once all that stuff is out of the way (if it's ever out of the way ), I'd love to begin drawing and whatnot again.
So what have you been up to?

O.o. Big words make brain feel mushy...
Next time that happens just push the piece of paper toward her harder?
And don't feel bad, I am quite lazy myself. Case in point, I haven't drawn anything of note as of late... except for a batman one that I can't post till the sketch reaches its destination.
I have been working/sleeping and not necessarily in that order.
I miss just hanging around with my friends more and more as I work more and more.
Stupid real world

I know what you mean. I've been feeling a bit aimless recently. I've told myself countless times that someday, when I make it big as a writer, I'm never going to have to worry about this crap ever again, put up with stupid people ever again, put work before friends ever again. And I think to myself...what greater motivation could there be to keep on writing?
Yet there will be times when I can't write at all, and recently, those times have been outweighing the times I can write. It's depressing to know what's at stake, then not be able to rise to the challenge. It's like there's something internally wrong with me and my greatest fear is that it's something I can't change or fix. All the talent in the world won't make a lick of difference without the ambition, and that's what I think I'm lacking right now.
Maybe removing all my distractions might help. The only problem is that the distractions are what make life fun now, as opposed to fun later. Oh well, I'll give it a shot.
I've actually decided to design my own universe, kind of like the Marvel universe or the DC universe, except more medieval based. I figure once I have that down, I'll be able to start creating some decent stories, kind of like individual movies based on that universe. I've always found it fascinating that characters like Iron-man, Spiderman, the Hulk, and the X-men could all exist in the same world. So that's my plan for now.

Awesome man. I am actually going through the same thing with my drawing. I want nothing else than to get better, but at the moment I have absolutely no drive or desire to draw. Its frustrating as ALL HELL. And my job completely and utterly sucks...
I've gotta write, I've gotta practice Guitar, I want so bad to finish all these games, but I just can't get the motivation enough... ugh.
I feel ya man, I really do. I hope your universe goes well, and maybe one day I will be able to draw in it.

Heh, that'd be pretty awesome.
To me, the guitar and the piano/keyboard are the two most awesome instruments known to man, in all their different forms and varieties. I'd love to learn the guitar, but I already have a keyboard I barely know how to play and I'm in no position to buy a guitar.
I'm on the verge of deciding that being a great artist, a great writer, a great musician is irrelevant. Because no matter what, there'll always be someone better than me at what I do. This has always been irrelevant to me, but in the attempt to turn these things into a career, those greater folks become the competition and I begin to miss the fact that improvement should not be the main goal of why we do what we do, but enjoyment instead.
If the very best I can do is experience the wonders of creating art without ever coming into prominence as a best-selling author, a world-renowned concept artist, some millionaire playboy musician, I think I'll be okay with that. If something isn't working for me, I simply have to realize that its as futile as fitting a square block into a circular hole.
So, anyway, I'll just have fun with what I can do without thinking to myself that I need to do it. Kind of sad that I'm just realizing what I already knew in preschool, but pressure in thinking you only have one choice in life can do that to you.
Anyway, apologies for the random blathering. What are you plans beyond working at Wal-Mart? Are you planning to continue your education?

I've been tossing the idea around. At the moment I am seriously thinking about taking a few classes here and there. I want to take an Art class, and a Philosophy class at the very least. So When I can stop being so damed lazy I will actually get to it.
I have to, at some point, get back to drawing and then on to writing (I had planned to be in the publishing process at the moment.. that fell through cause I picked up drawing again). I've always wanted to produce at least one page of a decent comic. I have an idea, I just gotta learn to draw it decently enough.
Guitar isn't really that hard, and I bet a talented guy such as yourself would really take to it. It does take a lot of pursuing for me though, as I don't naturally get most of it, and I have to hammer out the kinks. I am still only mediocre after a year of lessons... mostly because I rarely practiced in the beginning. Now I try to get in at least an hour everyday, and its easier now that I have two relatively full songs that I can jam with, and a couple of exercises designed to better technique. Its pretty fun, and it can get kind of expensive, though its worth it. I got my first guitar from a friend at work, it was a piece of crap $2 knockoff that was crap... but I hammered away a few chords on that till I got sick of it and bought my first electric, a Behringer. So I used that one for a while, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, until I finally had the chance and extra fundage to buy another one. It was(and is) a $200 dollar Squire, with a $100 dollar dual-pickup (the thingies that turn the vibrations into electric signals that then create the sound, etc...), and I got it for around $85 after the trade, and its been worth it. Strings were like $10 ever other month, depending on how much I play. They'll be less now that I can change my own. And Setups, which are rare if you take well enough care of your instrument, are around $30 bucks depending on what it costs... but the guys at the store I go to will work with you, and won't just take it for the money, they'll make sure something is wrong with it before they take it.
Anyway, would you be interested in getting together for lunch or something, like hang out/shoot the breeze? I know its difficult to arrange in the schedules but I have Wednesdays and Thursdays off, and most of Fridays until I turn in. If your interested, I'll note ya my cell number and you can give me a buzz or somethin.
I really gotta get back into drawing, lest I just let it slip away, and I don't want to. I've spent too much money on it this time to just let it drop.
Anyway, hope you are well man.
-Nick
P.S.: Fun is really, the only thing that matters. I mean yea, money is nice but... if your not having fun, its not worth doing. Unfortunately in this Economy, I can't really quit Wal-Mart and look for a better job (in terms of likability) cause... they just don't exist at the moment.)

If you're interested in classes, try checking out community colleges like NHTI and GSC, both of which I believe are in Concord. College at its cheapest (which is still pretty expensive), but it can make a world of difference in broadening your horizons and getting a better job. If you can save up around 1,000 bucks a semester and let Federal Student loans take care of the rest (not sure how easy it is to take out a loan for the whole 2,000), you can work part-time and go to school part-time.
While I initially started off taking a crapload of courses geared toward an English degree, I decided to head toward Nursing as my "backup" plan. I figure if I can't get the job I want, the job I have might as well be easy to get (thanks to the nursing shortage) and pay me 30 bucks an hour at an entry-level position. With shift differentials and overtimes, you can end up making close to 2,000 bucks a week (which is what I make in four months with my current job). For about 3 years total education, that's not bad. Of course, if you're squeamish or find human biology boring, then you might want to look toward other sure-bets such as accounting, software engineering, etc. I hate math with a passion despite loving computers, so I ignored those paths.
A guitar for 100-200 bucks sounds pretty sweet. If I have any extra cash floating around, that might be my next acquisition. I've recently discovered "In Flames" and melodic death metal and some of their guitar solos are just absurdly awesome. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Naturally, that's the stuff I want to play now but won't be able to play without several decades of practice.
Friday mornings and afternoons I have off (until I head to work at 4:00), so hanging out before then would be cool. If you gave me your address I could mapquest your place, maybe give you some music and art resources I've found particularly useful. Or we could meet somewhere else, whatever works best.

yeah, lemme know if you end up wanting to buy a guitar, and I will show you round the place I go to. I will be looking at school very soon, hopefully. I will have to still be full time at work however... I can't afford to go part time. I might even look at going to school online. I am very squeamish and Anxietyish so Nursing is out.
Yea, that would be cool. I will note ya with the details as soon as I can manage... which is probably just after I submit this. Unless I forget, which happens often.
Friday morn/afternoon sound good. Maybe we can meet up sometime in the mornin, like around 9 or somethin and head down to Portsmouth for a bit, do some window shoppin or summat... I can show you to Bull Moose...
Oh, and have you heard of The Black Mages? I am sure you have... anyway, I can get you some of their stuff if ya want.

Ah, Mapquest is a beautiful thing. They should give those guys the Nobel Peace Prize for saving the heads that roll whenever I get lost in the city.
The Black Mages. Just googled them, saw Nobuo Uematsu and Rock mixed together and said "Awesome." I look forward to listening to that.
Are you a fan of the Metroid series? If so, you might want to check out "Metroid Metal," done by an artist called Stemage who redid the soundtracks to Metroid, Super Metroid, and some of Metroid Prime in Celtic Singing (Just kidding, Metal). Free for download on their site.
We don't have to do anything special (seeing how I could be entertained by something like ball-in-a-cup), but if you wanted to go to Portsmouth, you'd probably have to drive. Personally, I've been trying to save as much in gas money as I can (I'm already driving more than seven hours a week), but that's up to you.

I wouldn't mind driving at all. I just gotta clean out the passenger side of my car. Its really no problem!
And I haven't really played many of the Metroid games, but I will have to look into it.
And yea, Black Mages are awesome. All your Favorite FF songs wrapped nice and snug in a heavy metal cocoon

Sounds good. I might be later than 9, depending on when I drag my corpse out of bed (that's right, I keep corpses in my bed, big whoop, wanna fight about it? Regardless, I'll report the final figure before Friday.
And yeah, if you're not a big fan of platformers, 2d or otherwise, you probably won't like any of the Metroids. The only ones that are a must play are Super Metroid for the SNES, Metroid Prime, and possibly Metroid Prime 3 (which I haven't tried yet but sounds awesome).
However, if you've played any of the Castlevania games, you've already accidentally played what I call Metroid-lite (they rip off a lot of the Metroid gameplay elements, which is fine cause Castlevania is fun).

lol, Yeah, my mom recently started working there as a cashier. Nowadays, she's running into everybody we know.
I'm sure it's the same at Wal-mart, but working at Hannaford really shows how freakin' inconsiderate people can be to each other. As a janitor, I'm literally cleaning up after people's shit. How people manage to get poop on the walls of the stall is beyond me. Most of my day is wondering what inspires a person to take their own feces and smear it on the wall. I only wish that was the exception to the rule, but it happens often enough to make me irritable with most customers.
Anyway, that came out of nowhere. Hope it didn't put a damper on your day but...seriously, what's wrong with people?
