Tuckson's okay, but the setup was great, and decking that jerk in his stupid face was brilliant. Plus I felt that Tuckson went down too fast- I get that Mercury and Emerald were supposed to be elite and stuff, but I'd have liked to see evidence of that rather than just curbstomping a bookstore owner.

My biggest flaw with the villains- and follow me on this- is that the creators felt the need to HAVE villains in the first place.

I mean... sure, having internal strife inside the isolated city states keeps it interesting. But... aren't there limitless, infinite hordes of monsters hungry for the flesh of humans and faunus, breeding in ever-increasing numbers, eager for the slightest mistake of mankind to run in and devour us all whole?

Why is THAT not the primary threat?

... Plus, the bad guys don't have a motivation other than "Let's be mysterious and evil!" You know, Babylon 5 (my favorite show of all time) had a mysterious shadowy villains group that manipulated things from behind the scenes. And do you want to know what they did? They gave out tidbits to let you in on what the plans were, and the Shadows (they were literally called that) occasionally went out and DID THINGS instead of being mysterious douchebags all the time. TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT VILLAINS.

Yeah I agree, the villains are playing things a little TOO close to their vests. I mean, we can't really appreciate the stakes, when we have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what their endgame is.

Do they want money? Power? Or just to kill everyone and everything indiscriminately?

It'd just be nice to get something more than;

Step one- Release Grimm into city.

Step two-????.

Step three- PROFIT!

Speaking of Grimm, I kind of accept their role in things so far. They're kind of like the Walkers in The Walking Dead, not so much the main antagonist (not as much as other LIVING people, anyway) they're more like a set piece than anything. Just an excuse/reasoning for the way things are in that particular universe. I guess it's just hard to make an enjoyable villain out of monsters that can't even talk...

Unless they find someone or something to talk for them...

Ooooh, something like an assimilated human or Faunus who's part Grimm to serve as a voice for the Grimm, "Locutus Of Borg" style?

Or perhaps some sort of "Brain Form" Grimm whose presence increases the skill and intelligence of Grimm in the nearby area?

Or what if Cinder is actually a Grimm whose purpose in causing so much destruction and chaos is to weaken civilization by causing strife and civil war, forcing hunters to become more and more involved in internal affairs until the defenses for the Grimm start to get stripped of resources and manpower, leading to society's eventual collapse?

Another scary idea: When the Grimm disintigrate, they eventually reform... meaning that ultimately combating them is a short-term gain, but it's not actually accomplishing much in the long run.


And yeah, the baddies are being way too secretive- it's hard to get involved when we don't know how close you are to completion of your evil plan. It really cheapens victories too- you don't know how much they've screwed up the plans, or how little. Ugh.



And I don't know, villains that can't talk your language can be way scarrier- it's the "Unknown is Terrifying" thing.

I like the idea of the Grimm's essence traveling back to essentially a "spawn point" when they die. And who knows, maybe they're is something at the center of it all that is producing them. It'd definitely give the series a solid ending point if killing one monster means the end of all of them, but that does seem a bit too convenient, also that idea is dumb and I hate it.

Whatever is up with the Grimm, I gotta believe it's got something to do with that messed up moon. Maybe the moon was a source of power for Grimm, so humanity built a big dumb Dust canon to blow it up? And that weakened them down to "Minor nuisance" levels.

THEORIES! THEORIES AND HAPPENSTANCE!

Also I'm not a huge fan of the whole "YAY! We screwed up the villians plans, but 'HA HA' we were expecting you to foil our plans! It was all part of our plan that we planned!"
