You're off doing good work somewhere...I knew we couldn't keep you in this little cage! I finally discovered Bob's "Chronicle Part 1" -- couldn't get over his waiting around (for the stage) with Tiny Tim and hanging around with Dave van Ronk! ...and signing with John Hammond Sr. before doing anything...see you again someday...

Great to hear that you had such a good birthday.

Oooh, a vintage dress from the states...! I'm sure it's going to look gorgeous on you. (I so would love to see a photo of it! Preferably with you in it! )

P.S. If you do check out my story, where it says "the end" on the continued page may not be the end, (as the owner added some pics which threw off the format) ; so look a bit further down the page if it doesn't seem to make full sense.

just saw your fave quote - my version would be - "you can't sing like a wren with the throat of an eagle" - haha... i love wrens and their stout voices - i keep wondering how these tiny beings manage to sing so loud...

haha...
well, i know that most people, if they could choose to be a bird, they would want to be an eagle - not me... if i ever would be born as a bird and could choose, it would certainly be a swift -
"they fly so easy, they fly so high,
and everytime i watch them i just give a sigh...
everytime i hear them "screak" i stop and stare,
wings like knives, they cut the very air..."
i made a song for my daughter and it happened to fit on an instrumental of my brother's and my dub-reggae-live-session band "groove digger" - so we recorded it - "mauersegler" (swift) is the title...

(or did i send you this link already?)

so, this is an answer saying much without writing too much, haha... i'm glad that you like my interest for your inerests...

yes, i know what you mean... we had these big formations of cranes and wild geese flying by here, but they seem to have lost a certain place, they don't come anymore... this year i saw only three formations and they went in a different direction... three years ago it was about one week almost non-stop "cinema" out of our kitchen window...
[link]
when you look at our little house, you can imagine the view over the fields...
there is a very fine movie about migratory birds, in german it's called "nomaden der luft" (nomads of the air) with fantastic captures - they actually follow the birds on their journeys...

thank you for your kind words about my music - i love to make music, it's a big part of my life...

hi, i came here because of your fantastic DD and just HAD to download your ID picture to show it to my 9-year-old-daughter who is a huge fan of "dinotopia"...

you have a very interesting list of interests...
after having been into techno/GOA for many years, i just now come back to a lot of roots of mine - i have many, and one of them is ragtime...
my mother had worked in england as an au-pair-girl after the war - when she visited the woman again in mid 70s, she had been divorced from her man and lived together with her 65-year-old sister...
now, when this woman heard that i was interested in music, she took me to the next room and sat down at a piano... she told me she had only played classical music until she had discovered scott joplin - from that day on she had only played his music...
then she started playing and at the same time, the church bells in the neighbourhood started ringing - incredible...
to round up the picture - her little doggie, who couldn't stand the sound of those bells, sat down and started a heartbreaking howl, while this respectable little lady played her scott joplin as if no nothing had happened...
can you imagine, how that music was sort of burned into me?
a nice experience i'll never forget...

another music which started for me with a quirky experience was zulu jive, which i got to know in the late 70s - and via that "ladysmith black mambazo" - but i don't want to bore you with endless stories about my musical development, haha...
i shush now and take a little walk through your gallery...

Hello and thank you so much for all the comments and the faves!
I really, really appreciate your support!
And aww... Did your daughter like my ID?
The painting is pretty old and if I repainted the subject now I'd add ornitholestes some feather!

Thank you for checking out my interests list.
I've always loved "old music", not as old as classical music but let's say music that began develop in the late 19th century.
My father loves to listen to music from the 60s and 70s and I usually tend to prefer a bit older than that in terms of timing, but I do love to listen to my favourite genres of music up to present.

Speaking of ragtime; it's also one of my favourites as well as so many other styles developed in African-American communities.

Your story about your musical development was not boring.
It was really fascinating and I'm glad you told me about it.
I love Scott Joplin's piano rags; they are so jaunty and "intoxicating" in a way.
I also love rags with a guitar. Blind Blake, Willie Walker, Blind Willie McTell and rev. Gary Davis to name a few great rag guitarists.

My real passion in music is Folk Blues, especially Delta Blues from the regional styles and there are so many amazing musicians in the early blues that I just adore, many of them play variety of styles including Blues, ragtime and Gospel.

Any music that has something to do with the historical development of Gospel music is close to my heart, like you probably noticed while reading my interests.
This would include spirituals and work songs.

Yeah, but anyway... now I'm starting to bore you, heheh!

Now when you mentioned it I actually love the "township sounds" from the golden age of Mbaqanga, like Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens and The Dark City Sisters. I don't listen to that music so often but every once in a while.
LBM and Soweto Gospel choir are my favourite groups from South-Africa.
I wish I could go to their concert someday. That would be so beautiful!
