Thanks for the fave! Keep working on your art, but I think you can start a webcomic any time!

Aw, thx! Yeah, I'm hoping to get something out within a year from now, but high school gets in the way! CX

Indeed, life gets in the way of art. But life doesn't get any easier. You will always struggle to find time to do the stuff that is worthwhile. If you can't make time to start now, then you won't later as well

You have the baseline artistic skill, you read webcomics, you say you want to ... ability, knowledge, drive, that's really all you need. My own start with art was to make something I thought would be crap, so I would always be doing something better after. You could try starting with a short comic of ten pages or so, like a one-shot, and from there you could work on longer and longer projects. Or you could jump right into a giant project and see where it takes you. You could collaborate with an established artist, or even find a team of fellow newcomers to the field, and by working together lighten the load on everyone. There are very few bad ways to start, as long as you start

Aww, thx! Yeah, I just finally started writing my main story this past fall, I've got about 20,000 words of disorganized script so far! And that doesn't include my worldbuilding notes etc... CX And I've written a few other little things... But starting is the hardest part, that's certainly true! Now that I've started though, it's easier! Also, thx for the encouragement and advice, that's really nice of you! C:

There you go, that's definitely a start! Though one thing I've noticed with art is that the medium matters. Know what I mean? Every medium of art is different to create, with its own learning curve. Writing romantic comedy is different from writing horror, like composing music is different from writing a novel. There are some things you can learn about one form of writing from another, but in general everything is different.

Which means that getting a rough script together helps, but it's not the same as creating the comic; for example, you'll discover that you can't make something look good in a comic that you could do easily in prose, or vice versa. You'll discover that some scene or idea from your script feels wrong when you actually make the comic, which might require changing other ideas or scenes – although I would bet those changes make the comic better or more interesting. Creative expression is something which only becomes definite when made solid in the chosen medium. Honestly the only way to practice and prepare for a comic is to make a comic, which is where one-shots and practice comics are great.

And if you ever need someone to look over a comic you've made, you'll find plenty of people here to give you advice and critique. Just ask, and I will; at the very least I've read a lot of webcomics. Also, if there's one book I can recommend about making comics, it would be Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud. I was assigned that book for a script-writing class once, and I've been recommending people read it ever since. Good luck!

Haha yeah, I'm writing it in a weird format it can translate to comic form, but yeah, I'll still definitely be making a lot of changes when I do actually begin producing it! I've done comics for school projects so I do have a little practice. I've looked into the Scott McCloud book, and considered buying it; now that you've recommended it I guess ill definitely have to get it now~ C: Also, thx for offering to critique, I might have to take you up on that offer! c;
