Hi Sonn,
Lovely thing to say about the paper neg.
Yes you're obsessed but it appears to me more as an artist than a craftperson.......this is a good thing!
Your creativity must breath.
There was a shop in Sydney called Tameresque, the owner supplied paper to all the great artists who were doing whatever....lithographs,etchings etc anyway I wish you could've seen it because if you're obsessed now you would've been shamelessly rabid once seeing the wonderful collection of textures and weights and indeed different recipe'd papers.I had always wanted to study bookbinding and use to feed this fantasy bt visiting Tameresque.
So is that obsessive

Thanks Al, I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Tamerisque sounds wonderful, the sort of shop I could spend hours in. I would love to check it out when I'm next in Sydney. I searched for it on the web and, while there's no website, there are a couple of sites listing it's name and location - it seems that it still exists (assuming it's the one in Surry Hills, on Albion St). Bookbinding huh? I would love to hear more.
Regarding the artist vs craftperson...I think of myself as an artist, so it's reassuring to have a trusted friend and fellow artist confirm this. Thanks god!
I cringe at the word 'craft'. I associate it with images of nanna crocheted toilet roll holders and the like.
Finally, in answer to your question, yes, you're obsessed too! It's a great way to be...
Sonnie.

I think craft gets a bad rap in the sexy stakes and therefore seems a bit fait.Craft does infer a repetition of technique so maybe it's more fundamentalist.I think though thats it's the starting point for every artist.
