I'm currently playing Old World Blues. It's really sad that Bethesda got so salty by Obsidian that they wont let them make another fallout.

Were they? I heard that obsidian doesn’t want to make another fallout game, and I remember someone on tumblr sending me a article detailing that Chris Avellone left the game industry.
Not to mention the whole theme of FNV is letting go of the past...

www.gamespot.com/articles/fall… Remember, many who worked on NV actually worked on Fallout 1 and 2. And if give the chance, a better budget, and around 4 years, I cant see why they would refuse... that is unless Bethesda would continuously keep coming in to make changes.
I know it's a bit hypocritical, but if fallout it is going to continue it needs to look back a bit and improve. While fallout 4 was fun, no doubt (I enjoyed it) as a role play game and immersion, it really doesn't stand up to NV.

I stand corrected, and I knew that beforehand. A another game done by Obsidian would be great, but don’t hold your breath. Honestly, I think I’ve just grown a bit tired of hearing about NV being flawless and everything else by BGS being terrible.
It’s not hypocritical at all. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

NV is far from flawless... but thats mostly due to outside factors (Again it was only finished in a Year and a half), the engine is not that good, the graphics are very dated, glitches and so on. I will say that it comes as close to what a Fallout game should be. The only thing holding it back it's it's age. I guarantee that if the game was remastered with modern graphics and physics, but have it's mechanics stay the same, NV would win game of the year. I mean Todd seems very complacent with re-releasing Skyrim every other day.

I know it ain’t flawless, I’m just sick of people treating it like the new gospel. NV was great, but the others were pretty good in their own right.
I agree that NV being made with the FO4 engine would be spectacular, but...you know, a modder is probably making that.

Exactly, it really is impressive how small bands of programers can make release quality game mods for almost no prospect of pay from it. When your making something for the sake of telling a good story and giving a good experience, and not money, many times it will end up being better than something a large company can pull out.

Of course, that’s usually how it works. Once money gets involved, over time, quality will be sacrificed to gain more numbers.
Remember, a company’s goal is maximize profit. For the average person, they want a good story. In a perfect world the writer can tell their story and the businessman gets their money...

Again, I just find their society interesting. NCR is just the US remade. The Legion is foreign and different. I might not like to live there, but reading about it fits well.

Well, the Legion is all about going through peril and relying on one’s own body...so it fits them. Also I like the concept of taking something from the old world and repurposing it.

Nothing. It’s just been mind numbingly boring. Hardly anything is happening on here or on dumblr, brothers never want to associate with me, and I feel “paralyzed” by all the different paths I have to choose when it comes to how a certain character will act that will affect the ending of a story that’s in the works.

I could understand why the Austrians held a resentment to the Serbs, because they kill the Austrian Archduke.
That's basically like assassinating the president, isn't it?
He was an important leader (I'm not sure if the Archduke was THE leader like the President is, but he was important enough)
And I can see why his former citizens and subjects would hold a grudge, because a lot of the Austrian citizens liked him.

Well he was the heir to the throne, it's more like assassinating the president elect.
And he was well liked, especially by Croats and Bosniaks. He wanted to reform the empire into a tripartite kingdom, and give the slavs more rights. Although this was to underline the infulence of Hungary, plus to simply save the empire and not out of the kindness of his heart.

Because I knew that the Serbs didn't like the Croats or Bosniaks. I think that was due to the Yugoslav wars in the 1990s though, at least for the most part.
But the area where all those ethnic groups exist is a place where countries have risen, fallen, mixed together, and turned inside out. It is a very volatile region, or at least it was in the past.
I can't honestly expect that hatred to go away easily, even though I want it to.

For that era, yes, it caused ethnic tensions, which led to things like the Ustaše and the genocide of Serbs during ww2. Along with the fact that many Croats felt they were being oppressed by the Serbs during the kingdom of Yugoslavia.
After WW2 the one thing unifying them was the old dictator Josip Broz who basically held it together by using himself as an icon of "brotherhood and unity" (their motto. He was half Slovenian, half Croatian with a Serbian wife. MAkes sense right?) And jailed anyone who said anything remotely nationalistic.
Once he died things started to fall apart, which, along with the economy crashing and foreign aid flow stopping, led the break up.
Well do keep in mind what you hear of all this hatred is coming from nationalists like modern day "Ustaše" (croat neo Nazis) who are a vocal minority. Perhaps all of this hatred will dissolve once the people who witnessed the wars and atrocities during the 90s pass away.
