can I say sth about ur dragun? ok I guess you won't offend at a good advice. Imo his head is disproportionate to the rest of his body - it's too big. I'm saying it because I suppose that there is no problem with changing it somehow in photoshop into a bit bigger body. I know this dragon requires a lot of work, so I'd like you to be satisfied after finishing it, because I know the feeling when I spent many hours drawing something and effect was not so good. Generally everything is perfect, but he would look more majestatically and powerfully with bigger body. Cheers.

You're right! Although since I am bad at digital painting it's all on one layer, so changing proportions at this point would be really hard.

Thanks for the input though, appreciated!

your stuff on that mastectomy photo where I first saw your 'critique' spring to mind. Some of your other targets may not be without a grain of truth, or an obvious reason behind your vitriol....and I am not interested in 'internet kindness' or my idea of 'fair' is in relation to you either.

I do disagree with your methods, and think it makes you look like a twat. If you aren't then you should stop misrepresenting. Which I think is a possibility incidentally.

You also criticise in fields in which you appear to have no demonstrated background yourself, which means it lacks reality...again making you look like a twat.

I don't need to pretend anything to take the moral high ground. Thats the problem.

A genius can afford such arrogance, and even they will look twattish doing it most of the time. Demonstrate your genius, if you have any, then you will have a leg to stand on.

You also appear to be leaping to a fair few conclusions.

Incidentally, if you are worried about buggering something up when inking it, either don't bother inking it, or try using a different pen/ink, and specifically try using less of it. Though theres nothing wrong with the solid blacks you are using, you clearly ain't too pleased with it.

I'm laughing. "You also criticise in fields in which you appear to have no demonstrated background yourself".

Do you honestly think critiques need to be from people with experience in the field? Because I'm pretty sure anyone who knows anything, knows that a critique isn't based on the critics artistic merit, but the merit of the critique itself.

That mastectomy photo is a poor example to draw from, seeing as it's a poorly snapped photo of a mediocre tattoo. I didn't even "critique" it. I acted like an asshole because people think this shit is photobucket, so why treat the photos they're uploading as anything other than uninteresting personnel photos?

I appreciate you giving a critique a the end there, but I gotta bugger stuff up before I can do it right, that's the law. I've been experimenting with pens, brushes and markers, just waiting till I find something that feels right. Although I primarily sketch, so the problem is really translating the shading I do to B&W.

try using a biro lightly, then heavier.

and no, critiques dont have to be in same field at all....but if you are gonna put yourself in a position where your opinion/approach is gonna piss people off, its wiser to be ready to back that up.

and he mastectomy is a perfect example...in it you were more insulting to the subject, not the the person who shot the photo, and yeah you didnt critique it, you were just an asshole. But you are doing that in a few othe rplaces to from what I can see. (Couldn't be arsed scrolling through on that DD...yeah there were things wrong it, no idea if they are the things you pointed out, its highly likely it was racked up as DD before she died, and my sympathy would have been with her if she was toughing it out in life, but now its with the people she hurt by leaving behind, and I don;t really go in for putting suicide up on a pedestal, but I digress...)

and you knwo what? I seriously seriously hate people treating this place like photobucket too, but I'd just go about it a different way...one thing is to look at the intent. It might look like a persons putting up some shitty stuff, but then you go look at their other stuff, and realise they are just trying to get better. Or in the case of some photographs, are influenced by people like Daido Moriyam, Hiromix, or Natacha Merritt (the last one of which is not exactly art in a in lot of peoples opinion, mine included) so theres a context for some of it. Context that you might not be aware of, again going back to the whole 'crit without background thing'.

Plus eventually you get tired trying to lose the camwhores etc.

Try the biro, try not being so heavy with the balcks, try cross hatching.

And I wasn't critiquing. I pretty much don't do that. Just thought you would find it useful advice, since I've done the same thing withe blacks sometimes.
