Me? Considering that my avatar is Phantom-related and "Phantom of the Opera" is listed under my "Interests", I obviously like it quite a bit. It depends on which version of the story you are referring to, of course.

What about the newest movie?

Well, the 2004 movie is one of the very few "Phantom of the Opera" versions I'm not fond of. I consider the stage show vastly superior, for reasons that have been mentioned repeatedly in various forums. I'll just list one concise factor I recently posted, concerning the protagonist's characterization:
"Gerard Butler's Phantom was watered down to the point of losing whatever magnetism stems from want of the forbidden. The stage show's shocking deformity was replaced with a patch of red tissue, the aura of mystery with a humanized alternative, and the fascinating past with a sheltered life in the Opera House. Add to that Gerard Butler's rough, untrained voice, and I am left with very little to admire. Even the pity I might have felt evaporates by the realization that this man's misery is self-imposed by the delusions he bears in regards to his face... which, in turn, renders his murders, his deceit and his coercion unjustified."
Being a phan yourself, though, I'm sure you must have stumbled upon at least one of the stage-show vs. movie debates, which cover most of the reasons why I disapproved of the movie. I'll refrain from rambling.
Thank you for visiting my little corner, by the way.

No one likes Gerard Butler becuase they're blind. I'm pretty much the only one in this ENTIRE world who thinks he has the voice of a GOD! He was talking to the director of that film about the Phantom's misery, AND HE STARTED CRYING!

No, you are not. There are many Gerard Butler fans around. But personal taste put aside, his voice, technically speaking, is rough, wobbly and untrained.

As for his sympathy towards the character, all I have to say is that I avoid basing my opinion of actors on their interviews. I have seen remarkable actors behave awkwardly or arrogantly in interviews, and I have seen bad actors display profound understanding of their characters. Needless to say I appreciate the former more. The world of entertainment and personal life should be kept separate at all times.

What a sweetheart you seem to be.
I know this is incredbly random, but I keep seeing your name pop up on various pieces of art and the indepth comments you give, WOW, seriously, I applaud you!
You're a real gem. Not many true art lovers like you out there willing to give great criticism like that.
I love "Phantom of the Opera" also.

Aww, thank you, you're a real sweetheart... I really didn't foresee such a warm welcome, especially since I'm only here as a reviewer. I hope I prove to be even a little bit useful in my department, so I can help you people with the real talent. I'll keep an eye on you and your amazing art. Continue the wonderful work!
