Damn, I wish I had a skull collection like that. All I've got are two raccoons, one hawk, a crow, and a deer...

Taigas-den In reply to TickleMeHoHo [2014-01-24 05:28:55 +0000 UTC]

Careful who you tell about the hawk! Unless you have permits and licenses, raptor pieces and parts are illegal to own in the US. I'm not sure if that's everywhere or just here in CO, but I'm damn near positive that it's a national law. But damn do I want one > n > You have a crow skull?! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I would love to get my hands on one. I had a prime opportunity to snag a full dead crow on my way to work but my parents would kill me if I brought back more roadkill before I had the set up for it, especially bird bodies.

TickleMeHoHo In reply to Taigas-den [2014-02-06 18:58:35 +0000 UTC]

I had no idea that it was illegal - you're not gonna rat me out, are you? lol - but now that I'm aware of this. I guess I should be happy that the only people I've told and showed it to were my friends and family. I put it on a dreamcatcher, so if a cop ever comes to my house and asks if I have a permit for owning that hawk's skull, I'll just tell him I bought it off some Indian guy... You should see what you can do to get your hands on that dead crow; you don't even have to bring it home with you, just find a nice private spot in the woods or something, somewhere where only you'll know where it is. That's what I did with mine, as well as one of the raccoons. The deer on the other hand, I shot him...

I won't rat you out I have some BOP feathers and those aren't good either. Robins are protected too and I have a skull from a baby of those >.>
Using a Native American craft is a great idea to disguise it xD

That crow is long gone and the closest woods to me are 30 minutes away and in an area that I can't legally be digging xD The closest national forest is 2.5 hours away x.x

I love venison. I really want to go deer hunting this season.

TickleMeHoHo In reply to Taigas-den [2014-02-07 21:45:49 +0000 UTC]

What!?  Robins are protected too? I used to shoot at them with BB guns when I was like ten years old... So does that mean my cat is technically breaking the law every time he kills one? I kinda find that hard to believe actually. There's a lot of robins up here in Washington! Are they endangered or something?

Ugh! I can't picture living that far away from the woods. Then again I've lived near forests for practically my whole life. Before I moved to the next town over from where I originally lived, I was only five miles away from the Olympic National Park. I used to go there all the time... Still do every summer.

I'm planning on getting my hunting license this year, so I can hunt elk. Last year I was pretty much poaching because I hunted without a license... At least I never wasted anything though.

Taigas-den In reply to TickleMeHoHo [2014-02-10 03:16:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they're protected under the Migratory Species Act :/ Cats aren't breaking the law but they are under scrutinization from birders saying that cats decimate local bird populations. I'd like to see some hard, un-biased evidence on that. They're a dime-a-dozen and dive right infront of your car, knowing full well that if you hit them you can't legally take their parts. Granted, you won't get under much trouble if anyone finds you with it because 1. No one is really going to know if that's a robin skull vs another bird and 2. It's a muthafuggin robin.

Yeah, it's depressing. I mean, I love my town. It's smaller, full of artsy people, and has good opportunities for quite a few things but as I said, the closest "woods" are at least 30 min away in either direction. To get to National Forests is another 2 hours at least in either direction. I'd like to move into the mountains, but here, they keep burning down or frickin flooding.

Olympic National Park looks absolutely stunning. I would love to visit there some time!

Yeah, that is definitely poaching, my friend! Definitely good to hear nothing went to waste though! I plan on getting my small games license this year so I can go hunt rabbit and squirrel. Hopefully my stepdad wants to go deer hunting this year bad enough that we actually go.

Cats being scrutinized for what they were born to do is as retarded as judging pitbulls for being "vicious killers." I say, screw those liberal hippie douchenozzle birdwatchers' opinions! I remember when my friend Kelda pulled up on our driveway with a dead robin stuck in her grill, it was kinda funny. I looked at it, took a picture with my phone and was like, "Hey Kelda, how fast were you driving before you got here?" So she looks at me all confused and asks me why, and I took her to her car and pointed out the dead robin stuck in her grill. I had never seen someone laugh as hard as she did... She didn't even know it was there! Poor thing was stuck in there ass-first! I was like, "How the hell did you manage that?" XD

I wish I could say the same about where I live; sadly it's a small, secluded town that's boring as hell because there's nobody to hang out with, on top of that there's a lot of self-righteous assholes here. The woods are just a brisk walk away over here, but further west is where you'll find the labyrinth of logging roads in the mountains, then we've got the Hood Canal to the east, it's pretty cool living so close to the water, the fishing is great here... We've got kind of the same problem with forest fires, but that usually only happens during the dry season, and it's not very likely to happen since it's always raining here like, ALL the time... So we're mostly suffering massive floods. The Olympics are great, you would love it here! Especially out in Sasquatch Country.

Yeah I just got my license about a couple weeks ago, but I haven't gotten down to hunting anything yet. For some strange reason it seemed easier to find elk and deer when I hunted without a license, now that I do it almost seems like they're hiding from me. I still have yet to bag me a nice-sized elk or deer...

Yeah, it's ridiculous. They're also considered an "invasive species" because they kill birds and aren't native to the area. It's beyond ridiculous but the frustrating part is that that is true.
How did she not notice a bird hitting her car? haha that's hilarious!

I love secluded towns. The only bad thing is word travels fast and if you're on one person's bad list then the entire neighborhood knows about it.

Have you seen a 'squatch with your own eyes?

And naturally! Once you can do something legally then everything gets a million times harder! I have yet to actually shoot a deer, though I've had my bow drawn multiple times on some.

TickleMeHoHo In reply to Taigas-den [2014-03-31 19:14:39 +0000 UTC]

Technically humans are an invasive species too, and yet we're still encroaching on the territories of native animals. Eavery day. Humanity just can't accept the fact that we're hypocrites! XD I think it was more along the lines of her hitting the bird more so than the bird hitting her. I mean she was hauling ass when she pulled up on my driveway, she drives like a maniac!

I like living in small towns too, it's very peaceful. But I know exactly what you mean there; word travels fast around here too. Sometimes you don't even have to tell anybody what happened because somehow they already know. Like this one time I got into a fight with my mom and she kicked me out of the house, so I decided to walk over to my buddy Tyler's house and crash there for the night to let things cool off, and we was like, "So your mom kicked you out, huh?" I was like, "How the hell did you know? That only happened like ten minutes ago!" All he said was, "Word travels fast." lol

Never seen one myself but I know a few folks who claimed to have encountered one. This one dude I know has a photo of him and his wife, and in the background you can see this man-like thing standing far off in the distance that is unmistakably a sasquatch... I believe they're out there, and there are a lot more of them than people think...

Bow hunter eh? I can't say I've tried that before, I mean I have a bunch of bows, but I get reckless with that shit. And as a result I've either lost almost all of my arrows or have rendered them useless. Every time I've practiced archery, I'd always get experimental with what I could shoot: bales of straw, cardboard boxes, milk jugs, basketballs. I use a 30-6 and this old lever-action .25-20 when I go deer hunting... I'm happy deer season is just around the corner because I'm totally ready for it now!

Nicole-Marie-Walker In reply to Taigas-den [2013-10-01 07:18:33 +0000 UTC]

To be honest we don't have coffee in the house. ^.^; Would instant coffee work? I'm thinking with the food coloring it would be gorgeous to have just slight variations in the color, like only a little food coloring. Because the coffee is already so gorgeous!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taigas-den In reply to Nicole-Marie-Walker [2013-10-01 13:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's what I used! I used the instant coffee because it's easier to transport! You don't have to brew it either, just put some water on it and you can adjust the strength to the slightest detail.
I plan on mixing watercolor in with the coffee on some of my next paintings but I think using food coloring will get those really intense colors like how your ink does! This will be a fun experiment!

Sorry if I babbled x.x
