Hey Christie!!!! I just read your info thingy. You like Kurt Vonnegut??? He is one of my favorite authors!! You're the first dA person to mention him! Do you like Joseph Heller too? (He wrote one of my all time fav books, Catch 22)

Take-ApartxYour-Head In reply to xjames7 [2012-08-17 04:38:51 +0000 UTC]

I love Vonnegut so much, ahah. And I've only read Catch 22, but I loved it!

That is so great! Someone introduced me to Vonnegut years ago. He was a great author and I love his style. I’ve read just about all his works. Did you like Slaughterhouse-Five? It’s a great anti-war novel. The film is interesting too.
Catch 22 is pure genius. I have to admit when I first read it I was too young to appreciate it. However, when I re-read it, I saw the brilliance in his ideas. It is one of my all time favorites!! Again, the film was an interesting interpretation.

Slaughter-House Five was the first Vonnegut I read. Cat's Cradle is forever my favourite of his, though.
I've never seen the film!

Cat's Cradle is great. Got to be careful with "ice-nine"! lol

Here's a trailer for Slaughterhouse Five. [link]

Oh, wow, I had no idea that even existed! o.O thanks for showing me!
What I really love about Vonnegut's writing is his subtle, recurring imagery. In Slaughterhouse Five, I remember a lot of "blue" and "ivory," which, of course, are rather deadly images. But sort of beautiful images, all the same. I'unno. I just love everything about his books, really!
Actually, I know a man who was friends with him back in the day. I've heard some pretty interesting things about him...

I would have loved to have met him. Your friend is very lucky! A lot of people just don't get the layering of meaning in his books. His writing is very clever. It is so nice to meet someone intelligent enough to appreciate his work! You've made my day!

HEY Christie! Why so long since your last series of photos?? And I'm not counting photos you took when you were really little!! (lol) I think it's about time you got out there with the camera again!!! Any ideas for your next shoot? Who? or What?
I was just wondering.

Hello. :3
I sort of do things in bursts, I guess! I'm planning on going out to do a shoot with Brianna again, this time with another girl, Paige. But we're all about to start our semesters at school, so we're distracted/moving in! I also have a freshly tattooed back, so I'm waiting for that to heal before I do anythin' much. I'm not supposed to go in the sun, and I have to treat it with Bacitracin and the like -constantly-.

xjames7 In reply to Take-ApartxYour-Head [2012-08-17 03:22:21 +0000 UTC]

Firstly, good luck with school! Great news about the shoot! I look forward to seeing what happens. A tat on your back. Sounds great, (but painful). What's it of?

Take-ApartxYour-Head In reply to xjames7 [2012-08-17 04:22:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
It's of the goddess Bastet (from Egyptian mythology). I based the design mainly on an ancient tomb painting, so she's only part-cat; she has a snake-y solar disk, and is carrying an ankh and a staff.

xjames7 In reply to Take-ApartxYour-Head [2012-08-17 04:31:02 +0000 UTC]

Any chance you could post a drawing of it? All I can remember about Bastet is that she was an Egyptian cat-goddess? Did she have the body of a lion? I might have just made that up! lol I know about an ankh, that's the key thingy. Sounds great!

Take-ApartxYour-Head In reply to xjames7 [2012-08-17 04:45:36 +0000 UTC]

Here's a picture of the tomb painting I based her on: [link]

But my tattoo is different; the solar disk is red and her face isn't quite so scary. I also have her entire body showing, with the traditional sideways feet. And I wanted the jewelry green and red. But her dress/stance is the same.

I'll probably put a photo of my actual tattoo on DA once I'm all healed up.

Very very cool! I look forward to seeing it!
I'm too wimpy to get a tat. A few years ago I came close. A friend had intoduced me to this old Aussie band. I loved their music and the symbol of the band. A couple of more beers and it would be on my shoulder now! lol [link]

Thank you! It hurt a lot, actually. Apparently the spine is one of the worst places to get a tattoo, because it's all bony, but I went for it! It took an hour and a half...I was curled up in a sort of fetal position the entire time, trying not to whimper. Totally worth it!
There's nothing wimpy about not wanting tattoos! I mean, if drunkenness is the only way you'd end up with one, maybe they're just not for you. xD

I would love one of my designs to be turned into a tat. Probably the top part of this drawing I did. [link] or this one [link]

I would love to do some more drawing on people. It's so much fun. Hard to find people willing to be a canvas! lol
After a long break from drawing, I started to get back into it just a week or so ago. It's good!

I really appreciate the feedback on "Teaching!" Your interpretation definitely highlighted a few things I had in the back of my mind - thank you so much! (And I do think you used the right approach: anytime you go to the text and work with its internal logic, you're doing the right thing.)

Did you see TDKR? I wrote something on that recently; I think a lot of people will like it. But there are many, many spoilers: [link]

Well Christie, I won't go on about your photography skills because you can see by my comments that I think you are a natural in that area. I was surprised at your writing. It is very good too. You are very inciteful and understand words, feelings and emotions. Just to make me happy (and not more jealous), please tell me that you're not musical or that you're good at dance and drama! (lol)

It was a pleasure looking through your gallery and finding something a bit different that combines intelligence and emotion.
