The entomologist August Magnan did once remark, in the 1930's, that the honeybee's flight ought to be impossible; and this has stuck in the public imagination ever since. But the fact is, scientists have since figured out that Magnan was making a number of faulty assumptions - in particular, he didn't have access to high-speed photography good enough to show the actual motion-path of a bee's wingbeat, and so assumed that the bee's wingbeats were up-and-down, rather than back-and-forwards. The aerodynamics of honeybee flight are now mostly figured out, and certainly no longer an enigma - much less a cute story about the limitations of science.

And while it is the case that the bees themselves do not care what humans think impossible, natural selection most definitely cares about what is in fact possible.

Is it? I get your artworks and journals in my deviantWatch, which is how I keep up with artists I like on here. Would it be somehow less cheaty if checking people's homepages was how I normally kept an eye on artists' output? I'm not being facetious here; I'm just not aware of any generally understood set of rules of kiribans, except that most people will only accept a kiriban catch from someone who follows their work. But it is possible that this is just cluelessness on my part

Just to be clear: I'm watching you because I like your art, and the kiriban played no part in my decision to watch you; indeed, I think you declared the kiriban after I watched you. I'm watching you because of deviations like these:



Basically, I have a love of OCs who are troublemakers, and I like your style a great deal.

However, it is the case that I've been periodically checking back to your front page because of the kiriban. If you consider that that is not appropriate, of course, then I will not do so any longer.
