I have been trying to teach myself several Ninja-to, Shotokan Karate, Kung fu(Various Styles), Various Sword&knife techniques, Bo-jitsu have done a year or so of judo and want to learn akido as well would also like to learn Capoeira as well

yea! definitely. i would love to study a form of martial arts myself eventually. the styles you mentioned are very pratical styles,very straight forward except for Capoeira which i would consider the brazilian equivilent to chinas wu shu, it being just for show. are you studying for health, fitness, wellbeing, peace of mind?

i suppose you could say im doing it to keep fit but also i just like doing them cos i would also like to go visit the shaolin monks an would love the chance to learn from them Capoeira is brazilian karate where as wu shu is a derivitive of kung fu and the sister art to shaolin in many ways

no way!?! Capoeira is a dance, its practicality in a fight is very limited. and although wu shu is a very theatrical form of kung fu, i wonder if it would be as useful in a fight situation as say, something like your judo training.
i dig shoalin monks. i didn't get to see them perform when they were in town. i hear it is possible to train with them now, if you are very dedicated.

True Capoeira & Wu Shu are used alot for performances but if you've ever seen them used properly in a fight situation you would be able to see how effective they can be another good example is Tai-Chi (not sure on spelling) although when you see it it seems slow an graceful in reality when used in combat it is actually much much faster and is actually and surprisingly one of the most lethal martial arts there is

yeah i agree. i've seen jet li's "Tai Chi Master" and it was all fast and powerful. granted that it was a movie, but i have no disrespect for a person who pratices tai chi. it just seems like an intellectual kung fu. i still disagree on the Capoeira tho'. I have to see a Capoeira fighter and maybe a Tai Boxer at it, to make up my mind.
