Chara cocked their head as they sized up the skeleton in front of them. Eh... another Sans from another timeline, huh? Great. They decided to see what they were up to. " * Hey!" they greeted him, their fake smile instantly plastering itself onto their face, " * I don't think I've seen you around before...?"

Sans glanced around, eyes widening to see the human. He gave a chill expression, " * S'up. " he said to them in response, raising an eyebrow. The kid wasn't familiar... in fact he didn't recall seeing a human before.

The smile on Chara's face widened as they saw Sans turn to face them. " * ...huh," the nine year old said a bit thoughtfully, " * Well - the name's Chara. Nice to meet you. " They extended their hand for a handshake, raising an eyebrow. ...Of course, the smile was still plastered onto their face. Something they probably didn't realize looked creepy more often than not to most other people.

Sans gave a long questionable look, the child's expression was rather unsettling... yet it felt familiar? But, he politely grasped their hand, followed by a loud immature noise. The Skeleton grinned widely, whoopee cushion now visible.

"...!" Their eyes widened, but then it faded into more of an irked expression. ...then the fake smile quickly phased back in. Chara didn't know whether to feel about this?? Damnit Sans.
" * ...good job," they said, although there was a slight hint of sarcasm in their voice, " * You proud of yourself now?"

" *Actually, yes. " Sans responded with a hint of sass, though.. something about it was ever so slightly intimidating?? Sure he was the silly skeleton he usually was, but he ain't stupid. . .

They still didn't much appreciate the prank (they didn't appreciate any prank unless it involved injury / bloodshed), but they managed to completely wipe the irritated expression off their face. " * Hm.. " The Skeleton looked Chara in the eye, " * The name's Sans. Sans the Skeleton. " he huffed, flashing another chill grin.

" * Sans...?" they said thoughtfully, " * ...hm. " So it /was another one from another timeline? Interesting. This one seemed a bit more friendly than the others (?), so Chara decided to keep on going.
" * Hey Sans, how much do you like fighting?" they asked innocently, still smiling.

Sans nodded, but froze in place from the mention of fighting, his white pupils disappearing for a brief moment, " * E.. Excuse me? " he was only growing more suspicious of the child.

" * //Hypothetically," Chara corrected themselves, " * Not trying to pick a fight or anything... heh. I don't think I'd be that idiotic." Whoops, looked like they'd struck a nerve there with that...? Welp, they realized they'd probably have to watch themselves around him. Not push things too far.
" * ...anyway, whaddya think about paper snowflakes?" they asked, abruptly changing the subject.

" * I like them!" they said, perking up, " * I'm pretty good at making them, of course." Chara puffed up, looking kind of proud of themselves. Crafts were... one of those things they prided themselves a little too much in.
" * Crafts are the //best," the nine year old continued to gush, " * 'specially when you use knives instead of scissors! It makes everything so much more real~"

Sans looked disinterested and confused for a few moments... before realizing he was having a conversation with a child, " * Yeah that's great- wait knives? uh... kid, " he hesitated to ask, " * How old are you..? "

Chara looked even more smug as they looked over at Sans. " * I turned nine last month," they quipped. " * Of course, scissors are for kids." (It would probably be a good idea to be careful here. If Sans got Chara started on them and their crafts, they'd never shut up and he'd probably die of boredom.)

Now that they were off the subject of kiddy crafts though, the smug expression on their face eventually faded into the generic grin again. Of course. " * Not that it's any of your business anyway," Chara added. Geez, they really didn't get what was so concerning about a nine year old wandering around by themselves...? This was pretty normal, wasn't it?

But if that wasn't the answer you were looking for, I can ketchup to your expectations. " though the skeleton preferred ketchup any day, he simply chose mustard so he could make that joke.

At that answer, Chara died a little on the inside. In fact, they didn't even notice or cringe at the pun. (Normally, they would've died cringing by now.) " * Mu... Mustard?" they spluttered incredulously, " * Why mustard...?" They had no idea how anyone could enjoy that stuff. Ridiculous. It was like the chocolate thing all over again! //How anyone couldn't enjoy that was... beyond them.

" * Uh... " Sans' brow furrowed as he continued to stare at the child, " * Kid, it.. it was a joke, heh. " He realized he could prove it, remembering the bottle of ketchup he ordered earlier that had been left there on the counter. He took a gulp of the ketchup, somehow.. despite being a skeleton and all, " * See? " he said calmly, ketchup bottle still in his hand and not even fazed after consuming so much of the stuff in one go.

Chara stared at him a bit funny for a few seconds, but then shook their head and chuckled a bit forcefully. They coughed a little. " * Right. "
Awkward silence.
They eyed Sans.
" * Hey, mind passing me some?" the nine year old eventually said. They'd never actually drunk any ketchup straight out of the bottle before, but after watching the skeleton, they were a little curious as to how it was like...?

Sans looked at Chara, then at the bottle for a few moments before looking back over at Chara, handing them the bottle. " * IΒ don't see why not. " he said with a shrug.

damnit. it's okk I don't mind ahahaChara hefted the bottle in their hand, staring at it thoughtfully for a moment. Well, this could end quite a few ways, but they guessed they were either going to finish the bottle without a hitch, or they'd throw up after the first two seconds.
Screw it, they'd just down the bottle and see what happened. The nine year old put the bottle to their lips and started chugging. So far so good, but they were slowly starting to turn a little red.

Chara actually managed to get through half the bottle before they started retching. Ah, damnit - so close, yet so far... They quickly set the bottle down and wiped some ketchup off their face, scrunching up their face. " * I'll be-" they started, then stopped like they were going to throw up. The nine year old practically bolted from the room, holding a hand over their mouth.
