I love your designs my favourites are the Neutral Color Collection they are amazing.
I do fashion designs as well and I was wondering if you would take a look at some of them. I am fairly young like you and I am trying to get my way into fashion and I am trying to get some people's opinions on whether my designs are any good or not.
Thanks

Thanks I'm applying to colleges now (Parsons!) but I've done a Pre-college program (at Pratt). I'm not much of a sewer yet, unfortunately. I've made a couple things, but I'm not super proud of them.

i thought about going to parsons. my aunt graduated from there. i wasnt crazy about the idea of living in new york at the time and i want sure i could be innovative enough for fashion but im really into film so im going to school in florida at ringling college of art and design for illustration and visual development. its a lot of fun. college is GREAT. just find a school with a program that sparks you interest and a campus that your comfortable in and that inspires you. im sure youve heard it all before and you have a huge advantage with precollege backing you up

Yeah I'm sooo excited to go to art school. So are you planning on going into film, or are you still interested in fashion?

well im studying to do the consept for film and its what i really want to do full time but if i could get a freelance fashion illustration job i would be really really happy. id also be happy working with a professional designer doing design and ad work, building their brand.

Oh that's cool. I want to study fashion and be a fashion designer but I also want to be a painter. I hope that in the end I have time to do both! So you're considering Parsons?

Thanks so much, that's really sweet
And I'm really glad you like my portraits, it seems like not that many people are interested, even though I'm really passionate about them.

No way! Yeah FIT is really into more technical aspects instead of the creativity... at least that's what my neighbor said. Every year at Parsons and FIT they have a competition fashion show. By the way, congratulations on getting into Pratt!! That is completely awesome! I'm so proud of you! I'm going to apply to Pratt, also!

ThatsSuper In reply to ParsonsHopeful [2009-01-08 23:01:12 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I hear FIT's been winning. But we'll change that, right?
Oh yeah, if you have any questions about Pratt I did a Summer Pre-College thing so I know Pratt pretty well. In essence, I loved it, but it's not in Manhattan and it's not so famous for it's fashion program.

I've heard Parsons foundation year is anything but boring!! My neighbor said that freshman year is the hardest and most stressful year at Parsons. Of course, she's only in her second year, but she said her classmates would agree. She and her roommates would stay up all night getting their projects done. The great thing about it is that everyone (with the exception of the design management students) are going through the same thing in foundation year. Also, I don't know if you got the undergraduate program booklet but if you get a chance to look at it, go to page 89. My neighbor told me that her freshman year they had an assignment in class (I forget which one!) where the had to make "transformers," basically! You had to make something, like say a backpack, that turned into something else, like a chair! She made a bustier that changed into a pair of boots and then they had to wear it to class! Is that crazy, or is it just me? She said that class was extremely challenging and also that foundation year was very rewarding and that she grew a lot as an artist. If you look on that one page it shows the transformers. I know I could do it but it would take a ton of creativity and patience. What would you do for this? I'm thinking like a sweatshirt into pants but that's kind of blah. Right?

That's interesting that you have an autistic brother, too! I want to do the fashion curriculum which would be both fashion design as my "major, " or whatever you'd like to call it! Then I would also take design and management. What would you like to go into... fashion design, I'm guessing? Your designs are awesome, by the way!! Hey and if you have any questions about Parsons, my neighbor across the street goes there for design and management but she went through foundation year (she originally wanted to go into fashion design) and she is like in love with her major and Parsons! Have you heard about the projects you get in foundation year?
