# About me
My name is Matt; Im 24. I'm kind of a "jack of all trades". Ive juggled a plethora of occupations and hobbies. I was a 7 year member of the Canadian Forces infantry, worked full-time as a Provincial Offences Officer; and have hosted a successful radio show on 103.7FM in the Niagara region. Most recently I've been priveledged to tour the world with Playboy's 50th Anniversary Playmate Colleen Shannon as her personal photographer.Photography is not necessarily a hobby of mine, but more so... an addiction. I can be found exploring abandoned urban structures, dwellings, asylums, hospitals, and anywhere else that may give others the 'heebie-jeebies". My camera is an extension of not only my eyes, but my imagination. I love HDR, and my photos represent the scene the way my eyes envisioned it at the moment I pressed the shutter.

Heard on the news the other day that Kingston Pen is slated for closure sometime in the near future. A new Holy Grail looms on the horizon.

Yeah I heard too! My dad actually has a friend who is a guard there, and has been there for about 25 years. Im crossing my fingers he can get me (us) in after the closing. You never know, and seeing how its my only connection there, its better than nothing haha
The place is a legit fortress. Pretty sure the only way anyone would get in to snap is with permission. But just think of what the interior holds- there must be some incredible areas. Its been in service afterall since the late 1800's.

If you somehow get permission - call me and I'll drop everything to make the trip...guaranteed. I'm still hoping to get access to the General Hospital when it closes soon...before the demolition. Oh, and I've already booked off June 15th for the highwire crossing at the Falls by Wallenda. Should be an awesome photo op.

The new hospital must be pretty close to completion by now eh?? Any other big changes in Niagara? I miss it so much. Especially Decew. I'm thinking a trip down that way is required shortly. Can't waaaait to see those pics of the highwire. Scoped out a vantage point yet? Or you just winging it the day of. Gunna be a zoo down there that day, thats for sure.

Mostly winging it - I'm takin' the mountain bike down in the van so I can get around quickly for good vantage points. The media is saying he's not going out on the wire until 10pm, so I'm not expecting great shots. Might be a wasted effort, hard to say. BTW - we (Laura and I) were down at Decew again today. Great day for it, water was warm...got some great shots.

I hear he's using a tether :S But I think the bike is a great idea. 10pm... was not expecting that! You'd think that they'd do it during the day so that if anything happens tether or not, recovery would be easier. I was actually thinking the roof of the hydro building would be a sick angle. But I'm sure with all eyes on the falls that night it'd be really risky.
Post the Decew shots!! I wanna see them haha frig... thats the first place I'm going when I return for a visit.

Slowly gettin' around to editing the Decew shots. It's a crazy week around here...got the parent's 50th anniversary this Saturday, Father's Day...and the wire walk! And neverending drama llama at work lately. No rest for the wikked, lol.
The hydro building roof would be ideal - but as you say FAR too risky to even consider. They'll be patroling that area like hawks, no doubt. My first thought is above and behind the light battery...but that'll likely be crowded as hell, too. I'll just have to wing it and hope for the best. I may only get video with the darkness.

Thanks for the watch!
I love your quote "My camera is an extension of not only my eyes, but my imagination." I have almost the exact same thing on all my profiles, and my DA portfolio.
I always say "The goal of my photographs is to capture the way I see things, not just with my eyes, but with my imagination. I believe that the camera is a tool; the drive and inspiration beyond that is what makes a great photograph."

No problem, you're welcome! I completely agree with you! I believe every photographer has the right to creative license, and my all of my images reflect the moment and/or the scene the way I interpreted and experienced it
Great minds think alike

Hey, I'm using a canon 550d too. And I was wondering if you use any other program when you install photos to your computer. Cause when I do, 18 pixels decreases a lot. By the way I loved your work.

I really love your photos. I've went to check the weather to see what it was supposed to look like this weekend and I've noticed that you had submitted a picture under Brockville. Your photo caught my eye. I followed the link to your Facebook page then to here.
Keep up the amazing work.
