Also, an interesting read that explains quite possibly how I've always felt a little off health and mental-wise! I grew up near 2 heavy-duty coal plants, which coated the surrounding area with mercury (actually in SW Colorado, there's a lake that you can fish in.... But you aren't allowed to take/eat more than 2 fish, or you risk mercury poisoning. As a result of the plant(s), how lovely!)

Wow, that is interesting but also quite terrifying. It makes me want to live in the countryside and very far from civilization haha. But I probably couldn't stand a day in the country since I am an NYC girl.

Nah, the country is very nice... Anymore with internet stores and whatnot, it's super easy to get everything you need. And you meet people that are much more interested in learning about others... Whereas in cities, people are 'too busy' to really do anything meaningful with anyone else, I find.
Especially in Albuquerque. This city just plain sucks.
I will admit though.... Being away from convenience stores would be a drag. And the country is awful for skateboarding.... But I wouldn't look like a psycho if I go on hikes with a rifle on my back in the country... In the city that tends to make people panic just a tickle.

Ditto. I've been so stretched thin that even some of my coworkers are starting to worry about how I'm doing... It's kinda weird, actually lol I'm usually very invisible at work!
Modern life = stress, though... Simple, undeniable equation. Now if I could get this new friggen' job... Things would be much different. Life-changing-ly different.

That's only 5 months though, so I must give them more time. That'd be AWFULLY fast for the government to do anything.

Ah well. Hopefully things will improve for the better soon enough.
And I wouldn't worry about 'social life' in the modern day, just focus on people who turn out to be worthwhile to speak to! People (or rather, "people") in the modern day are so busy having their noses buried in tablets, smartphones and laptops that they don't even seem to live in the real world anymore.... They care more about '5 likes on my shampoo post!' than 'I need to eat or I'll die!' lol
I've also noticed more-so now than ever.... That pretty much 100% of all my guy pals have become entirely absorbed with girlfriends. If they aren't texting, talking to 'her' online, checking/posting statuses that update their relationship.... Then they get impatient, bored, or they just stop wanting to do anything. Or 110% of their free time goes to the lady.
Don't get me wrong, I've been in love before... But it's never actually taken 110% of my attention away from life lol (Well, maybe in High School once... but I was a little younger than now).Β
And I've also noticed an uncomfortable development in modern-day friendships... It seems like most of the girls I've met (here, at least in NM) think of guys as one of two categories: 1. Boyfriend (or potential) or 2. Avoid. All the friends I've had that were girls just seem to drop off the earth, and not talk anymore, then act like I'm making advances if I suggest an arcade adventure or something o_o it's.... odd. lol
People are so confusing now though, I don't know what anyone wants. Nobody wants to do any 'old fashioned stuff' anymore, and when they do hang out, they never get their noses out of technology (see previous statement above)....
So, to summarize my mini-rant, I think social lives are pretty well screwed for a little while, until society gets back to reality T.T
But I'm always here to talk to! I'm much less of a broken record than I used to be... took a look a few years back at posts I made and I was mortified.... I did an awful lot of whining. Less for pity, more for ranting/venting.... But it really doesn't look that way, so I'm focusing on saying more positive things when online!
Huzzah! Speaking of positive, regardless of how it may sound, I'm actually pretty happy. If things go correctly, I should have a house... MY OWN house. To myself, quiet.... The way I want it to be.
So, we will see how things go!

Hahah you're completely right. I have been called "worst texter" (affectionately) by so many people that it's actually pretty funny. I can't stand checking my phone for texts and emails every 5 minutes (and I know way too many people that do). With the amount of useless texts and emails I get, it would drive me crazy looking at it. But I guess it's really hard to distance yourself from it all.
I gotta admit, my ex's friends would always be annoyed because we were always spending time with each other and it was getting in the way of us hanging out with our own friends. I guess it's just a phase. I think you said this before, but relationships in high school are so useless lol. I might even daresay they're a waste of time because I spent two years with the same guy and it turned out to be nothing. High school sweethearts are so cute but sooo rare. To be honest, I think everyone just dates because they think it's what they're "supposed" to do and if you don't do xyz by x age then you're missing out on something. Guys and girls are both guilty of the same thing haha.

Past 6 months now.... 6 Months, 12 days. People seriously need to get off their bums and do WORK for once... But being NM gov't people, I highly doubt that'll ever happen.
To work in NM, government workers seem to fit a strict criteria!Β
1. Must be excessively lazy.
2. Must be unwilling to be helpful, or even pretend to sound helpful.
3. Must be either obese or entirely evil-bitch mode for duration of life.
4. Must be slow at thinking, acting, or caring.
lol perhaps this is why I should no longer work for the county!
And yeah... With technology I really think society went overboard. It used to be we'd wait weeks for a letter from someone, and that was FAST! Now people get upset if they wait 10 minutes to hear back from someone else.... Good song from the band 'knife party' called 'internet friends' that seems to fit this really well lol people are friggen' psycho!
I agree with your analysis. My HS exes were really cute, but they were worthless females. Not a bigoted remark, I've known many worthwhile and awesome girls/women in life.... And none of them were good examples. But teenage me saw something in them.... Β Further proving that as a teenager I was a moron! Haha! No kidding, kids today are worse than any generation before.... There are 5th graders.... 5TH that have been caught here dealing in heroin and prostitution.... I don't even.... Gahh

Had to hang out at one of the HighSchools in the South Valley for a bit, dealt with some of the teens there, thought back on you'd said you were in High School, too haha
New Mexico, Albuquerque and Albuquerque's South Valley in particular I believe have some of the worst examples of teens in the country....... Eeesh.
