Wow, Jesus must have been pretty hated by God... D= You know, talking about loving everybody, and hanging out with sinners and prostitutes and tax collectors... How did God even /stand/ that guy? I mean, if God doesn't even want us to be /friendly/ and /accepting/ of people... Yeesh! No wonder Jesus went to Hell!

Christ told us that above all we are to love, and nothing more, and nothing less. He told us to share God with our love and our actions, not by telling people how wrong they are. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Jesus ever admonished anyone for sinning (not counting telling his beloved disciples that their lack of faith was disturbing). Why? Because he knew God would deal with that.
What it boils down to is that you could be doing a better job of being an example of God's love. When you get unessecarily defensive and judgemental, especially to critize a piece of art, you emanate hate.
Also, if we're quoting James 4, James 4:11 goes on to say thus: " 11Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?"

You're taking this personally. I don't know anything about you as a person, only what you've exhibited to me here. If you don't want people to have this kind of reaction to you and your behavior, well, you're the only one who can fix that.
Also, I say these things because as a fellow Christian I'd hope for us to better ourselves. And you're probably right, I have said things that are judgemental and I'm sorry. If my words have offended you, I apologize.
As a last note, I do not think the artist set out to offend anyone either, though if she did, you have certainly pleased her. I highly doubt the artist meant to say that Jesus is a maggot baby or imply anything negative of him. I think the point was simply the interesting juxtaposition of the image of the virgin Mary with a weird alien-child. It was meant to amuse and intrigue, not to make any blatant religious statement.

and i have been a fan of his work for some time.Until that one. And i am not offended
i just stand behind my words. and am not ashamed of them. i was not rude to him, Just honest. i did not judge him just his work.
Jesus is my Lord and King and i would rather be hated for defending his honor than to be accepted buy the world.
We are not to judge others like you said. but i am supposed to Know them by their fruits. and that so called work of art was conceptually Antichrist in its content.

They are, haha! xP I go to an art school where the vast majority are adamant and vocal athiests. I've learned that being even the slightest bit exclusive or condemning results in me getting stereotyped and feeding their hatred of Christians, and that is the /last/ thing I (or any of us) want to do. I just want to represent well! Kill 'em with love and kindness.

since the end of sixth grade as well! XD One of my favorites has a DA page but she isn't famous for her DA she is mainly a gamd designer Foo Midori is her name! I also like Takeshi obata copic skills and the same thing with SHingo Nanami. I also like a massive amount of Japanese artists since I have acces to their japanese websites!~^^~

I second ur opinion I hate doing realism. I can do it quite well, but I hate it. There is no fun in it at all. I can't put characters in the poses, clothes, and scence I want to with realism. It would look weird. Most colleges want only realism in a portfolio presented to them, I think animation colleges are the only ones who don't require it.

Illustration departments are pretty good about requiring maybe one realism piece, and letting you do whatever you feel expresses your concepts for the rest of it. Illustration is what I hope to do.

That's my hope as well, although I am looking into some animation. Although, my storing point is illustration and if I build enough of a fan base now I will be able to successfully freelance later in life. Of course that's only in theory. Any ideas on art colleges? alot of the ones I've checked out were a bust.
