Thanks for all the replies, no doubt.

Yesterday I signed up for the biggest LAN party around Texas, QuakeCon (I was technically the 1st signed up, but had an error, so had to resend, so my friend who I beat by 2 min got the 1st spot). I can't wait.

The school system set in these days is a failing, faulty school system. In today’s society we put too much a price on the athletics of others. While athletics are good for you, and athletes are indeed fun to watch, they get paid too much to play a game that anyone could play in their backyard. When we should be focusing on the scholastics of the students.

Athletes get this profound sense of invulnerability, thinking that they are above everyone, including the teachers. Time and time again I’ve seen athletes curse, cheat, and otherwise in front of other teachers, and what do these teachers do? They sit idly by whilst the athletes do these things. So how come they get away doing these things? How do they get to cheat with no one caring? It’s due to the fact that no one will confront them and tell them otherwise. They have been taught through years of this treatment that they can do whatever they want when they want. And all the geeks, nerds, rejects, and otherwise allow them to cheat off of them, to crack jokes at them, and other badness. Anytime an athlete shows kindness or compassion for his fellow geek, 90% of the time its just a tool to get the geek to help him in a later test. The only reason why most geeks do this is because they are not sure of themselves, or do not want to create a ripple in the social class, or sometimes they just want an inkling a taste of what its like to be popular.

The popular people or “preps” also get away with near-anything they want. I’ll give you a quick example from my life: One day, I went to school, and I had a small (not bigger than an inch) hole on the right knee of my pants. Well, another kid (I believe he was a member of the football team, not sure what position) had jeans on with holes as well, only the holes on the knees were about 6 inches around. Now he was in front of me as I was walking to my class, and one of the VP’s waved to the football kid, and asked how he was. Now when I walked by, she stopped me, and told me that I needed to go to the VP’s office and call my mom to bring me a new pair of jeans. Well, wanting to cause no problems, I walked upstairs to the office and called. Well, an hour and a half later, the same VP walked in and asked me, “Your mother still hasn’t brought you your jeans?” Asking as though she cared. Well apparently the holes in my jeans were deemed worthy enough to take my mom out of her job for 2 hours and wash me a pair of jeans, and to waste 2 hours of my education that is, “Vital” to the school system. Now, how come the popular person that everyone liked didn’t have to go through the same crap I did? Because he was a player in the football team, he was a popular kid that was well known. That’s the only reason why and I guarantee it.

Sure the popular kids may be involved in athletics or are part of a Student Leaders Group or something, but in reality, these will not matter in the business world, or at least a majority of them will not matter. And half of these individuals are raised with no respect for anyone or anything. I’ve seen preps break objects and mistreat teachers due to this lack of respect. The next second these preps will turn around and ask you to vote for them for Senior prom king or queen or some other cockamamie vote that is nothing but a popularity contest. To each of these preps I ask them, “What have you done for the past 4 years or however long I’ve even heard about you that would influence me to vote for you? Why should I vote for you when you’ve in-turn done nothing for me but crack jokes at my expense and talk trash?” Every time I ask this, all I get is a face full of confusion, because they can’t think of anything nice that they’ve done (there are exceptions of course, but very little).

Some punishment in our school is In-School-Suspension, or I.S.S. This is meant for those late to a class. Although in theory it’s a good idea, its just plain dumb. I, myself, have been caught here a few times, and that’s because people in the hallway were blocking my way to my class. Now as I sat in there writing down the “B.I.S.D Tardy Policy” (which I guess is supposed to discipline us), I noticed that the only people there, were all the preppies or druggies or otherwise, I didn’t see one intelligible person among the group. That’s because people use this ISS system as a means of escaping a class. They should abolish this completely due to the fact that people who don’t want to go to class will be in there anyway, and the people who do want to be in class, will try their hardest to get their. I see nothing wrong with walking in a minute late to class, especially with the halls the way they are, but why should people be punished for other people blocking them off?

The smarter kids or the unpopular geeks or nerds, whatever you wish to call these intellectual beings, get almost no recognition and are constantly bugged when it comes to exam times. These people are the true people that you should be praising, not the preps or athletes. These people will more than likely be the Presidents and CEO’s and Leaders of tomorrow. Shouldn’t we not interfere with these peoples studies? Why are they picked on? Is it because that they pose to be more of a threat than Jimmy the 300-pound center lineman? No one knows for sure. I do know for a fact that these people should not be picked on like they are now.
