by the way, is the png version transparent or does it have a background ?
and what size canvas did you use and what program ??
I've been getting into pixel art lately but I can't find the right size canvas to draw on ;w;

When you save a new drawing to png. it should come out transparent(unless you add a background the size of the canvas it wont).

Height varies for me, but for width, ive been lately been sticking to 200pixels(or more if I add other things around the drawing like here ).
Program = I always use PAINT TOOL SAI. I knew someone who used gimp if your into that.

Finding the right one is a big problem for me as well, but i noticed 200pixels wide is usually a good place to be in for pagedolls. Unless you want them bigger theirs always that option, you decide from there : DDD
I wish you so much luck on them ahhhhh. 

Also, people always miss it. But remember to always work on a 50x50 canvas when making an icon. - v -
