Hi I just came back to say that I love your art really edgy and that's a good thing. I really love edgy things.

my art isnt edgy. I disagree. Edgy means "tryhard cool". But i wasnt trying hard to be cool. I was only letting lose of bad emotion. Depression and such. Not a fun time honestly

I feel really bad for you but it’s a good thing you use art to let loose of bad emotion even some artists do it but I don’t know why they call it “vents”.

i managed to overcome my depression in march, so art turned into a way for me to visualize my happiness and my good view of life. I might still draw skulls and i still do tattoo and black ink, but its with good intend. I might not post very often anymore, but when i do its not anything of depression! But yes, art can be a very good and effective way of letting go of bad thoughts too

well in my opinion instagram is better. I got exposure faster than on deviant art, thats for sure. Thats because instagram hasnt got that complex structur that deviantart has and hashtags actually matter. But im not completely gone from deviantart dont worry. Its simply that im in a huge experimental phase right now, so im not posting anything.

hey thanks a lot.^
Sry ive gotten really inactive and mostly stopped posting here.
The art above is back from the days where i have been falling under huge depression, so even if it looks good, i honestly dont like those pieces.
However i did get over my depression. With that my style developped a whole lot. So maybe i will post some pieces again, lets see...

I appreciate you taking the time to comment, thank you^

Wow totally what i would love to be able to draw... what kind of materials do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheInkFanatic In reply to ashvvicat529 [2017-12-28 23:57:46 +0000 UTC]

i use 2 kind of pens. What company you buy them of from doesnt matter. I use fine liners.

I can recommend them depending on where you live and whats cheaper for you.

Either the Sakura Pigma Micron 0.05 or The Faber-Castell Ecco Pigment 0.05

I use both Sakura and Faber-Castell. For me, since i live in germany and Faber-Castell is based in germany its 40 cents cheaper than Sakura Micron. But Sakura Micron is simply great. If you live in america, sakura should be cheaper.

The reason why I use a pen thickness of 0.05 is, because im working with incredibly fine details. But for outlines you can also use wider tips.

Something I just bought today is the copic multiliner 0.03. They also sell the multiliners with a width of 0.05 but really, copic is more expensive and if you buy 0.05 there is no reason to buy copic over faber-castell or sakura micron. I only bought the 0.03 and that tip is really difficult to handle.

Something you can also use for very small details and fine lines are fountain pens with thin feather tips. But that is also something to get into with more experience an i prefer not to for now.

Hope this helps!

I do believe in myself. But god damn, if there is one thing im not, its a natural talent. Thank you very much for liking me that much, but damn, all of that is tryhard work :'D. And I can only imagine that the stuff you create was months of practice too x)

Now I'm  back in the game & hitting it hard. I was so naive to think I didn't need practice even though I had 'some' talent...

well, you dont know me, so I'll forgive you for thinking that I'm someone who just quickly faves something and leaves without taking a closer look. I'm the kind of person who likes analysing other artists, and who likes giving critique on request. You are basically an artist who focuses on character design. And that is okay. But there are certain things I dont like about it... personally. Let me just throw out there, that your art isn't quite memorable. What do I mean with that? Story telling. You might never have considered that, but story telling is a HUGE criteria, that makes a good piece of art. Basically putting it easy, viewers love artworks, they can imagine a story too. Illustration. Pieces get so much more memorable, if it can tell a story. Things that can add to story telling are backgrounds, different emotions, poses. Smaller details. Interaction of 2 people. Your piece 'Kiss' can tell a story because 2 people are interacting. Flashlight becomes memorable just by adding a flashlight, because suddenly you can think of a story. Adding smaller details to the face can change a lot. For example 'Looking up the skies' where you simply placed a sticking plaster on her face. Or abstractism the way I like to illustrate. I'm focusing on portraits too, artworks that are usually not memorable simply because of the amount of faces we see every day. I add abstractism to illustrate. Adding a lot of weird details.

Lets get away from that. You also showed multiple changes in style. You focus on 'anime' art. I like 'looking up the skies' and 'disappearing' a lot more, compared to other artworks like 'flames' 'water' and 'eureka'. First of all, 'disappearing' is an artwork, where you exaggerated more with shading and highlighting work. And thats a good technique to add to your own personal style. Also, you left out outlines on 'looking up the skies', which steps away from anime style and creates a touch of semi realism. But there is a very simple reason, why I dont like the 3 mentioned very recent artworks of yours. And that is simply facial structure. As someone who studied manga drawing for years, let me tell what I mean. Short hair, smaller/ thinner eyes, and spicky head shape are criteria for a male person. And a lot of these aspects went into the girls from those 3 artworks. The person from disappearing COULD be a boy, but really, the person looks like a girl. So i'm just assuming. That person has bigger eyes, and a very unique hair style. The shading to lighting parameter is unrealistic, but that simply adds to the unique style of that piece. And I like that. The girl from gloves too, has longer hair, bigger eyes, not so spicky head shape. And that makes her very female. Eureka has a rather male headshape and other things I noticed you should change. Dino looks like a small girl. You can draw the eyes way bigger and dont draw them so far apart. Flames i just noticed is a trap. So i excuse myself here. Flames is actually okay. Head shape is masculine, eyes are rather small, but thats alright for a male.

So, last smaller details. Necks... Its a reoccurring theme that you are drawing the necks of certain people WAY too long. For example 'eureka' 'flames' 'kikuri' 'kiss' 'cover'. You should work on that. They have way too long necks.

Stiff positions and 90 degrees from the front syndrome, is something you should get away from, even tho you can do that on potraits. Eureka is way too stiff. And the 90 degrees front view adds to that. It simply looks cheap and emotionless on anime art. Other examples are 'looking up the skies' 'disappearing' 'elizabeth' and 'oven'.

Thats it for now. I could keep on going but i dont want to write a novel. This is simply constructive criticism. Hope it helps in a way. Dont think I'm being harsh. I really appreciate every artist who puts effort into filling a blank space.

But well, now that you responded I could actually take another look at your gallery, and damn, you are one good illustrator. That dark souls piece isnt the only one, that fascinates me.^
