# About me
***My blood is my enemy. It has destroyed my career. It has destroyed my ability to do things I used to love to do. That is why I am so obsessed with it.***Age: 29

Photography is my creative outlet for my bipolar disorder and self harming. I prefer dark and morbid photos because it expresses how I feel internally without doing harm to myself or others. Occasionally, when I have bright spots, I will post happier photos, but those will be rare.

Ah ha, figures. I have actually bumped into sooo many people in the Navy after putting up that ID photo. Everybody's been in, I think! What's your rate? I'm a nuke machinist's mate stationed in Charleston, SC.

Ah man, what a hook up! I have a buddy in Hawaii doing that and he doesn't do anything, and just kicks it all day on the beach. I'm pretty jealous.
Yeah, I got conned into this job. I was trying to go OCS, and that failed, and by nature of my contract, they made me enlist at a rating of their choosing. Tada, MM3 in the making. The WEIRDEST kids ever are nukes. There's a few good guys, but they're few and far between. And the schooling, scheduling, and overall work beats you down a little more every single day. They asked me what my favorite part of the Navy has been so far and I said every time I get on a plane for leave.
So, yeah, I'm jealous of you. If I could be an MC though, I definitely would.

lol who do you know in Hawaii? I was stationed there for a long time. It's a small community so I may know him. When I came in I was actually an undesignated seamen on the USS Harpers Ferry in Sasebo, Japan. I was a GTEP booter....was supposed to go to LN or MA school. Both were overmanned when I finally hit my two year mark as undes, so it was either get out or choose another rate. So it was either AG or a forklift mechanic. I should have become a BM....I loved being undes.
AG is pretty cake. In Hawaii it's 12 on 12 off; you actually only work about 15 days a month, the other 15 or so you have off. C-School was horrid, though. Most Navy schools are....cram as much info as possible in a short amount of time. Had to learn Atmospheric Physics in three days. Not an easy feat. Right now I work for Fleet Survey Team...we do hydrographic surveys so ships can pull in and whatnot. I'm waiting for a med board (which will ultimatley be my careers deminse) so I can't do any cool shit anymore.

Ah, he's actually a Chair Force dude, though I suppose you may bump into each other. His name is Jonathan Marsh.
Sounds like you went through the full way in. I basically came in as an E3, then in 3 months made MM3, and have been ever since. Those advancement exams are kind of a joke. Hah. AG sounds pretty much amazing. If I could go back and re-rate, who knows what awesome job I could have had.
I will say that the Nuke pipeline has a stupid ridiculous "power school" that sucks the life out of you. Hundreds of pages of reactor physics and systems that you have to know the instant you write them in your notes. Cramming is the nature of the game. It was like that at college too though. Memorization is the key to most things academically.
Med board? No good. Sorry to hear about that, unless you were ready to be out anyway.

I really wasn't ready to get out. I wanted to do the full twenty years, then do some cool shit like ride Oceanography ships and look for sunken ships or something. Now I can't do either of those things, but oh well. There is something else out there for me.
I think all Navy school are cram and GTFO. I hate it, but I guess it's all good because I don't have to go to anymore of them.
LOL chair force. My sister is in the chair force. She does sit in a chair all day, too.

Ah, well, good luck in the future. Everything happens for a reason; I'm sure you'll end up doing something cool anyway.
Navy school's are designed to push you through the system without much regard to the sailor and more to sticking to tight schedules. Not always bad, but it can be overwhelming. I have to do the reactor prototype school after where I'm at now; the two year training pipeline is a little ridiculous.
Yep, all my buddies are proud of the chair force fact; I don't blame 'em! Having a cake job is pretty enviable!

So I got my med board results back...the VA is giving me 60% disability, which I think is awesome, and it will still go up with my recent diagnosis of bipolar (yay. ). I am going to take it and have only 68 days or so left in the Navy. I'm sad to leave, but it's time to move on, you know? I just worry about people outside of the Navy having to deal with my bullshit all day, lol. Especially the cursing. Man I fucking curse a lot.

Ah, that's not too bad. Get to collect that check at least. Man, must be quite the switch. I don't even know what I'd do... Got any plans yet?
As for cursing, we're pretty much ruined. Every other word is a fuck or shit. It's hard for me to be in public around kids sometimes. I just can't turn it off when I'm around it so much!

It is going to be difficult going from the Navy to civilian life. I think I may still raise the flag every morning and conduct sweepers...maybe have a GQ or two. As for plans I'm going to go to college down here in shithole MS. Get a degree in social work so maybe one day I can work at fleet and family. I feel like I need to help out other sailors and all that lovey dovey shit.
lol speaking of cussing, I went to eat lunch today out in town and I was all 'fuck this, fuck that' and the table next to us just had the most disgusted scowls on their face. I was like, oops my bad.

It would be hard for me to sleep in. And I feel like now I can sleep anywhere at any time. This is something that's hard to explain. I feel like a shitbag when I don't shave, even on leave.
You could always get out of said shithole and do college elsewhere right? Your degree idea sounds nice, and so does helping people. A lot of people with fucked up situations in the military. I don't know if I could handle that.
Yep, you're pretty much a heathen. We all are. Maybe one day I'll act like an adult, but the Navy makes you a little kid most of the time.

You? dubstep?- ha would not have guessed-uniquely i'm listening to Korn's new album: "The Path of Totality" which was a shock to find out it's all Dubstep inlaced.
i love your work and look forward to seeing more creativity, more emotion driven expressions, more chaotic induced paroxysms of photography.
