Believe it or not, It's MS Paint I'm mainly using to make sprite arts.
(and sometimes 'Paint.NET' too for some of advanced functions)

I'd say there's no right way to make a single sprite since any programs that capable of handling image format files.

If you want to work with your computer, MS Paint or Photoshop and etc will be enough.

Otherwise, if you want to do with your phone, then the app called 'Pixly' will be your cause.

Now, I'm not an expert in 'Pixly' so I'll focus on MS Paint.

The crucially important thing with MS Paint is that you have to set 'Transparent Selection' atΒ Home->Select before you do anything else.

Load the sprite sheet you've saved on your desktop or copy & paste the sheet directly from the site.

and then move the sprites and backgrounds with selection tool to make your own sprite arts.

If you want to recolor or resprite, press Ctrl+PgUp(or drag up) to zoom in the sprite and vice versa to zoom out.

Recoloring through MS Paint is purely pain in the neck, but if you know the trick, it would be piece of cake :

Once you're done with making sprite, save the image as PNG format.

If you save it as any other formats, your image will be in trouble.

So remember to save it as PNG no matter what.

Unfortunately, no one had tried ripping whole sheet for ralf.

It's rather limited but you can get some of ralf's motion used in MSA by extracting them.

Check this so you can learn how to extract sprites from MSA directly.

If you're having trouble with extracting, I'll just give the sheet through stash.
