You're welcome - thank you for the nice comment! Maybe commenting once in a while isn't too bad, fwahaha! I was wrestling over whether to comment or not for some time, and tried to make them interesting! Actually, I have a question - about the quote "At the age of sixteen I grew out of hope", it's incredibly beautiful, but very sad. An excellent combination! I was wondering, though, if it had any special history, or was from a poem, maybe?

I'm very sorry for such a late reply! I haven't got Internet access for a while... But now I'll be happy to satisfy your curiosity regarding the quote that caught your attention It is the opening line of the song 'The Sleep of No Dreaming' by Porcupine Tree, my favourite band ever. If you like the blend of beauty and sadness, I heartily reccommend checking out some of their songs

Hey, no worries - my internet regularly dies, buried under snow and the regrets of procrastination; reply when it's possible for you, I'll be here. Anyway, I'm listening to Synesthesia right now, and absolutely love them - they are so melancholy; it reminds me of a less sharp Mars Volta. Porcupine Tree seems almost like they turn sadness into stained-glass music, if that makes any sense... Thank you for recommending them to me!

'Stained-glass music' souds amazing - you have a talent for expression! I'm glad to hear that you like Porcupine Tree Their music's very dear to me, especially the album 'In Absentia', with the songs like 'Trains', 'Heartattack In A Laybay' and 'Collapse The Light Into Earth'

Thank you! It's just some words that sounded pretty in my head, and they sounded appropriate, soooo... Anyway, I'm actually going to see if I pick up a copy of 'In Absentia' and 'up the downstair' on vinyl when they're available... They're just that good. 'Trains' is just incredible, romantic and inspired and symbolic and haunting all at once. I haven't listened to the others yet, and may end up commenting in delight when I do.

You listen to vinyls, then - that’s cool… The best way to appreciate music, I think. I’ve very recently got a gramophone as a gift and intend to slowly collect my favourite albums on vinyl. So far I have… let’s see… the records I got from Grandma, namely Edith Piaf and a Russian issue of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’

I try to when possible! My turntable is still going strong, and hopefully will stay that way for many years. A gramophone - that's awesome; my mind is filled with thoughts of a really refined victrola-style gramophone, and reading a good book while music plays... Padam, padam- sounds like you've already got some good sounds to enjoy with it!

Victrola-style… now that would be too marvellous! I think I used an old-fashioned English term for a record player - ‘gramophone’ is how we call it here in Poland
But indeed the sound of Piaf’s songs with all those little scratches in the background lets you travel in time

Wouldn't it be? I don't know if they even make them, and the ones still around probably cost too much, so maybe I shall just make one out of paper-mache and pretend it's real, haha! I didn't know they were called gramophones, or perhaps didn't remember. But now that I think about it, that sounds like what they're called (or were called) here, too.
I can almost imagine those days in Paris, so long ago yet so near, and the tiniest of skips making it almost possible to be in the crowd as Mme. Piaf sings in her inimitable style...

If you ever decide to a make a paper-mache gramophone, I’d love to see a photo of it

Hahaha, in that case I have to do it! Hrmn, my paper-mache skills are pretty bad, though... The result might be so terrible you'll only be able to tell it's a gramophone because of the title.
Sorry for the slight delay in reply - wooooork!

It doesn’t have to look exactly like a real one What’s important is the fun you have while making it… And the power of imagination, wouldn’t you say?
Don’t worry about delays - I can perfectly understand that you’re busy. Today is the last day of my winter holidays, so tomorrow I’ll be back to my studies and quite busy too… But, sooner or later, I will always reply!

Exactly! The power of imagination is one of the three most wonderful things in this world. Wait, maybe five... Yeah, the five most wonderful things in this world! (This is one of those areas where I will always be slowly increasing the number if asked about it. Five is quite a good number indeed, though!)
Oh, you're on winter holidays? Mine come a bit later; a week later, to be precise. This might be a European/U.S. difference, sort of like how they move Labor Day around, different v.e days, etc. I'm hoping to have a job soon, too - so that may eat up some of my spare time, but I'll have more free time in other ways... if that makes sense? xD Anyway, this is quite fun, and even if it takes a while for one or both of us to reply, I know it'll happen eventually!

At our university the dates of holidays depend mainly on what you study, because different faculties fix different exam dates. As I managed to pass winter exams at the earliest date, my holidays were pretty long (almost a month). Now they’re only a sweet memory, though - and the timetable I’ve been given for this semester is a mess. Not only do the Monday classes start at 8 am and last until 8 pm (with only fifteen minutes’ breaks), but also some of them coincide. It looks as if whoever set up the timetable forgot that there are other days in the week, not only Monday
May I ask what are the other most wonderful things in this world according to you? I must say the number five aroused my curiosity!
Oh, and good luck with getting the job!

That sounds rough - although it's great you managed to get almost a month-long break, having to do everything on Monday - ack, and with some of *those* on the same time! - is enough to drive one crazy. I'll root for you - try to find breaks where you can! And maybe write a few letters to the staff organizational group...
Let's see... The five+ most wonderful things in the world... Well, already imagination has been listed, but that includes things like curiosity, make-believe, and storytelling. So that's one!... kind of, ahaha! Two would have to be the world around us, whether it's the beautiful sight of nature, towers of glass and steel, or sand-castles on the beach, slowly being dragged under the waves. Third is people - I think people are wonderful, even if everyone else doesn't. But of course, if people can't like people, good conversation at least has to count as number three - hours and hours can go by during a nice ramble, and one won't know what's happened! Four is, hmn, sharing things with friends you like. Good food is excellent, and I love cooking - but it's only wonderful if you have someone to share it with. Same thing with tall tales! Ah, what does that leave five at? Hmn... It's a mystery. Let's say five is whatever is most important to a person - the things they love. And then the + is whatever else I'm forgetting right now! Perfect!
Hope this satisfied your curiosity - what would you put? Anyway, thanks! We'll see what comes up this week!

Thank you for the list, it’s lovely I really think you’ve managed to include some of the most wonderful things in it! I’d list something similar: friendship, closeness of the people most dear to you, all the small details that make everyday life beautiful… and also peace of mind. I am a rather insecure person so I appreciate the moments of calmness very much.
Thanks for rooting for me - I’ll definitely need it, more especially as my Monday ordeal closes with two hours of Latin - now that's one language I could never get excited about

Latin! That's a language that stumped my usual cheerfulness, too. Part of it might be some lingering resentment of the Romans (a long story) or something, or maybe it's just too dry, but... Two hours of Latin?! Well, I'll do more than root for you - if you ever need to complain about it, I'll be here. Latin! For two hours!
... Your list is quite good, too. Actually, I'd agree with each and every one of them, and it's amazing that somehow it did not occur to me to include peace of mind. That's something so rare and beautiful in it's serenity that the rare moments it occurs can make even terrible days turn into something almost beyond description. Actually, just sharing lists like this is lovely. Maybe it's something about the joy of finding out what's important to people, maybe it's just that you picked really thoughtful things... Thank you.
