Ah, your plushes are so cute! I've recently gotten into plush making, and looking at your gallery has inspired me to really try to design more of my own things! Also, the idea of using fleece rather than plain fabric is really helpful.

Thank you! I'm glad you found my work to be inspiring And fleece is definitely a very good fabric to be using, it has much cuddlier results than plain non-stretchy fabrics.

Soooo~ I know we're not exactly frieeends, per se, and haven't really ever talked.
But. I have this really sweet friend whose boyfriend (This is irrelevant, but his boyfriend is also a big Homestuck fan, which I think is awesome. They're an amazingly cute and wonderful couple, imo.) is coming from California to see him--I think for the first time IRL--for Christmas. And. He really wants to get a plushie made of his fursona, which is basically an anthropomorphic fox kit, to present as a gift to his boyfriend, as something wonderful he can take back to America with him. I don't know if you do plushies by commission, or if you do plushies as big as maybe a foot tall like he says he wants (He said 30-40cm tops when I asked about size.), but I was hoping you might be able to help me in at least some way, since, as much as I love plushies, I'm kind of a stranger to that branch of art, and don't really know many people who make them. I've asked another friend IRL if he knows anyone who could help earlier tonight, but I've not heard back from him. I don't know if he'll have any useful information for me, but as the only person I've really encountered whose plushie skills I recall being impressed with--the only person I really know of who makes plushies with any consistency, to be honest, but don't think that diminishes my very high opinion of you--I have come to you in the interim. Could you or someone you know perhaps help with the creation of such an item? x.o <3? Thanks for reading.
Yours, a big fan,
~Dessy

Oh man, where do I start?
Ok, well, I don't do commissions. The whole concept is kind of intimidating to me! I think I'd better gain some more confidence about working quickly and selling online before I even try that. So, I guess I'll just give you advice.
If you want to try making plushies, start small! Have you ever sewn before? Just start stitching bits of fabric together, make mini pillows and such. Practice getting your stitches really small. Look up some turorials! There are loooooads of great tutorials on dA if you have a search. Basic human-shaped dolls are pretty simple I think, though I don't make humans. You sort of stitch together two gingerbread man shapes and I guess from there it'd be relatively simple to attach ears, tails and such! It might end up a little flat, but flat is a good place to start. Give yourself plenty of time to practice, and if you're not sure about your skills then test things out with old or cheap fabrics before trying it on more expensive ones.
I... hope that helps you out a bit! That's basically how I started sewing plushies. I think it's the kind of thing that anyone can manage with a bit of patience.

Awh. :3 Fanks, deary~ ^-^
And I know there are plenty of people who would -love- to commission you, by the way. You shouldn't be so modest. n=n Oh. By the way. Have you heard of Eyes5? o: Amazing scalemate plushie tutorial, etc. :3
[link]
My friend pointed me in the direction of that site, where from where a very talented craftsperson whom I believe is on the Homestuck art team resides. My friend is pretty inner circle with regards to Homestuck, which is why I asked him in the first place. But my deadline is far too short to get a commish from Eyes5, as it turns out. x.o Bluh.
And I'd happily make my friend his purrty plushie. I'm otay at sewing, even if I am very inexperienced. Or. No experience at all, rather.
[link]
Look at least a little familiar? ^^'; Heh. Not original. It's the only attempt at a plushie that I've ever made. Obviously inspired by you. I was going to try the whole thing, but I already butchered it slightly, and I found the concept of the limbs+body to be very daunting. >-<
As I was saying, though, I'd love to make my friend his romantic plush gift for his boyfriend with my own hands, but I honestly don't feel I am competent enough as is, and I simply, and quite literally, don't have any free time. x-x

Haha, I have had quite a few friends and strangers asking me about commissions, so I'm sure when I eventually get my act together I'll get plenty of them! But I simply don't feel ready for something that big, unfortunately.
Yeah, Eyes5's work was pretty inspirational for me when I was starting out! She sure is great at what she does :D I've been considering making myself a scalemate sometime, though I feel a bit funny about using patterns I didn't make from scratch. Silly thing to feel, I know. Might just make my own instead. Eventually.
Also wow, that little Bec head is pretty impressive! :0 I know a lot of people have trouble working on things that tiny. I'm sure you could really get into plushie making if you kept going. But if you really don't have enough free time, I guess there's not much you can do about that unfortunately. Hope you can think of another nice present for your friend's boyfriend anyway!
