We might not talk often and we both seem pretty busy, but I hope things have been well for you!

Hello, Sweetheart!

I will come back after work and post a proper rambling greeting post when I have gotten my burgeoning inbox a bit more under control (I have currently cleared about 9000 messages this evening!) and when it is not 2 am, I promise, but in the meantime I simply had to stop by and say hello!! It has been far (far!) too long!

Di~! Am I dreaming? Do my eyes deceive me? Surely if you were back, you wouldn't come to visit me! It's a good thing this message is in text, since I'd otherwise be a stuttering mess... I shouldn't have to tell you I've missed you so much, but I'll do it anyway. And 9000 messages, am I reading that right? Did your keyboard add two extra zeroes? I hope you didn't write up thoughtful replies to 9000 comments, but that's not unlike you... And what a sight for sore eyes you are, in such a sad time in so many places across the world. You're always too kind to grace us with your presence, and let me welcome you back! I'll try not to make this too long, but maybe I'll see you again sometime soon.

Hi, sweetness! I did indeed make a point to go and say hello to you specifically, though I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your response... things always get buried in my comment stacks and you know my goldfish memory. Besides, as I said I know I owe you many replies at this point, I'm sure... it's been far too long since we've spoken properly you know. I hope you are well! The last time we spoke I heard you were relocating back to Canada, back in May I think! Which I can only imagine was quite a life change. Things have been all sorts of crazy for me as well, but at least my attitude and mindset are good, and have only improved in recent weeks if anything, despite challenges. And, as I have said to many over the past week my productivity level with my fanwork has certainly been up, so expect to see a lot more from me soon art-wise.

Anyway though, do tell me about everything! I am off work today and whenever I have internet time, I am all digital ears for you!

ToastOverflow In reply to WhiteDiamondsLtd [2014-08-31 09:56:12 +0000 UTC]

Hello again, my most delightful visitor! I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner; I haven't had much privacy since we're replacing the flooring in my room, so my computer will be right next to my father's until tomorrow... still, I nearly jumped out of my chair at the sight of this message before immediately sitting back down and covering my mouth in excitement, haha. I'm sorry to hear such challenges are still a matter in your life, but I'm glad you seem to be adjusting to it and I'm certainly pleased that your motivations are returning to you! Hopefully things may turn around soon enough! It won't do at all to let those things hold you back from the world, and everything we know you will accomplish. I hope you always do take care of yourself!

It's true, we've actually moved three times since May, and carrying heavy objects on and off a 34-foot trailer is rarely a fun outing. Before anything else however, I want to make note that I absolutely have not given up on or lost interest in art! Quite the opposite really, since I grow more and more uneasy as time goes on... though I hate it as I do, I'm still glad that I took enough time off to refresh my mind and get over the terribly arduous approach I had to art. Drawing used to feel like a chore, since I was so focused on producing a "perfect" picture that I never stopped to learn how to draw quickly and easily. Once I tie up any loose ends I can think of, I plan to devote all my free time to it! Like the Terminator, I'll be back... Also like the Terminator, it will take me eleven years. And by the third time, you will wish I'd just stop being back, but I won't stop being back because endless sequels are more profitable for the film industry than original stories! ...What was I talking about?

Oh, and another thing I just remembered! Since I have trouble describing what sort of art I hope to make someday, I've made another dA account specifically for favouriting and following artists I've never met. In cast you're interested, I really like the favourites on page six .

This message is already awfully long, so I'll finish it off with some art I've been meaning to show you; Post-It note Paper Pony Pictures! They remind meΒ somewhatΒ of your style, so I knew I had to show you them!

With that, it's 5:55, so it's... probably too late to be worth going to sleep. I wish you the best of days, you wonderful individual! Even if I see you again soon, you know I'll miss you until then~

WhiteDiamondsLtd In reply to ToastOverflow [2014-09-01 07:58:04 +0000 UTC]

Hello, dear!

Hah, how cute are the little paper-ponies! I've seen artists do things like that before, and they certainly are charming (it's probably the sort of thing I would do too, since I've been known to arrange my toy and stuffed ponies for photo ops for instance, as you know..). It's nice that they made you think of me. As for the length of time to reply it's no trouble... obviously, I am the last person in the world who would ever have a right to complain about that, and I certainly know how lack of privacy can affect one's productivity at times.

Moved three times since May, really? That's truly awful! I hate moving, but unfortunately am faced with the prospect of needing to do so again myself soon (one of the things challenging and occupying me recently). Well I am sorry to hear that but sincerely do hope you are settled now... the matter of your flooring being replaced leads me to believe you're now in what is intended as a permanent residence, at least.

It's also excellent to hear you are still enthusiastic about art! And you certainly do have some lovely things saved for reference. Very clear emphasis on dramatic lighting and color overall I see, and often painstaking detail, rather more like the sort of art that Harwick is partial and inclined to in contrast to my own work (the more time that goes on the more I realize I primarily am a more simple character artist, really; I love bringing my paper and digital subjects "to life" to the best of my ability). I can admire such dramatic and detailed art, of course, quite a lot in fact and possibly all the more since I don't seem to have the tenacity for it myself, and if that is the direction you should like to go I really am excited for what you will do someday. It sounds like you really do have every intention of seeing it through!

As for own art, yes, I have had quite a lot in the works lately, some of which is technically ready to be shared with the world but as I mentioned to Rena recently there are issues of timing I feel compelled to consider and so I've been waiting on some of it. But suffice to say I'm going to do my best to actively involve myself with the fandom again, since I miss it and feel doing so is critical to my future as well, as absurd as it probably sounds! I'm excited to discuss it further with you when I can, but in the meantime I need to emphasize once more how lovely it is to talk to you again soon, and I am looking forward to doing so again much more often from here on out. Until then, digital hugs!

ToastOverflow In reply to WhiteDiamondsLtd [2014-09-09 07:33:21 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, initially I kept myself from replying right away because I felt guilty about taking up so much of your free time, and then things got too busy again... But let's not focus on that!

As a matter of fact, you've never left our minds! Any mention of your name in Rena's stream precedes glowing praise and impassioned statements of how I missed you. (Rena missed you too.) Even so, I never lost hope that you'd return someday, and we would all get to enjoy your tirelessly kind, sweet, lovely self once again. How satisfying it is to be completely right! I hope my occasional lapse in replying never makes it seem as if I don't cherish your company... I'm a bit paranoid about that. Also, I almost feel like I should be giving you advice for moving, hah. I hope you're headed somewhere you can be comfortable! I would hate to imagine you forced to draw Rarijack over smelly 80s carpet with wine stains like mine.

As for art, really, from the view of my gallery, I admit that's what it looks like... Too many artists simply lose interest and give up sooner or later. And honestly, I have just as many good things to say about Harwick as I do about you, both as an artist and as a person. I consider myself extremely lucky to have met my two most prominent human inspirations.Β Speaking of meeting, I still have yet to tell you my real name, haven't I? In retrospect, that is entirely my fault... I'll have to get around to that sometime.

I believe I do quite understand what you mean about bringing life to characters, as the motions and emotions of a character are often the part that really feels tangible in a substantial way, as if they were living people and patiently waiting for you to finish up. Certainly you're a master at it; I hope to someday be half as skilled at believable expressions and descriptive body language as you are. While I don't think you give yourself enough credit (certainly you have the observation ability), environmentΒ concept art does tend to be rather intensive, so I don't blame you in the slightest if it doesn't seem as fun as ponies!

Now, I feel quite rude for not asking you more about how your life has been, it's just that I figure you'd rather not look back on the past few months... It's exciting to hear you have plans in the works, anyway! Your daily Rarijack blog has been a constant delight, I hope you know. If ever you feel like discussing anything (now or in the future), for you, I'm always almost always available! Your messages are a pure joy of which I never tire, and I could never turn down an opportunity for more. A thousand digital hearts and hugs to you, my good friend!

9000 isn't that unusual to possess, at least

She might mean 9000 to include deviations/journals/similar, but I couldn't say. I seem to be the only person who doesn't include art and journals when I say "I have X messages" because they don't necessarily pertain to me. If I want to browse art I can, but unlike comments/replies/watches/other, which are things that are directly people trying to interact with me (and thus things I absolutely should attend to) it's just optional and so I don't look at it with any sense of urgency. Having 5500 messages means I have 5500 comments/replies/favorites/watches/similar.

... Oh my gosh I have 5500 favorites/similar. *blinks a couple times*

Huh?

I don't think I left...

I thought maybe I'd reply to that journal comment, but all I could really say was a brief semi-serious rant about how Persona 4 not having evokers is an outrage, and that didn't feel very relevant. I guess I could have added to your recent poll, but my answer would mostly just be "no nothing i live on the fast track and reruns are too slow for a high roller like me"

Well, not unlike Death Note, P3 caused a lot of controversy over encouraging kids to hold guns to their head, or something along those lines. I wonder how many cosplay convention scares there have been by people who didn't know what P3 characters looked like.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ToastOverflow In reply to TaviTurnip [2014-02-24 17:26:01 +0000 UTC]

According to what I've read, it was because P3's entire overarching theme was about accepting death, so that "gun-to-head" metaphor was unnecessary in P4. The point and meaning of P3 is one thing I actually kind of dislike about it. I appreciate that they went for deep meaning, but I disagree with their philosophy. Just because a dead person doesn't know what they're missing doesn't mean they aren't missing anything. Oh well, it's just a stylized video game in the end.

It's going to be interesting to see how different things are in P5... If you've seen the trailer, I expect to see spoiled high school students moaning about school being slavery. /sarcasm

Seriously though,Β the developers seem to be going deep Β for that one too.

When I'm in your area, we should just go to a convention and scare some non-Persona-savvy otakus. It's a rite of passage.

It's so great to see you again, Diamonds, hello! If it doesn't go without saying, I've missed you terribly. I would hope you had an enjoyable holiday season, but considering how busy you've been, I think I know the answer already. So instead, I'll wish you a happy new year. You are yet another year closer to the life and career you've deserved for a very long time. I wish you all the best, my talented, sweet, lovable friend!

I'll try not to write too much here, as I know you're extremely busy, but I feel I should mention that despite what my gallery would suggest, I definitely have not given up on drawing or decided it wasn't for me. I've just been so preoccupied with work last year that I never know how much free time I'm going to have, and it's already difficult enough for me to draw without discouraging interruptions. Though I think I have somehow improved since my last attempt, so the time will come. For now, however, have a tiny Rarity diamond ring... sort of. silk-locket.deviantart.com/art…

Ah yes, I was hoping that picture would serve as an apology for my boring profile page. It was discovered on the popular stock photo website "gettyimages". Getty has very wide variety of still life photos, many of which fall under the category of "Food & Drink". I especially like the results of this search criteria . But those aren't the only ones at all, and I would encourage you to try searching for more under the "Close-up" and "Still Life" categories.

I've been thinking of referencing one of those desserts for whenever I want to try a realistic painting style. This account is strictly for pony art, but that's not to say my Scraps won't fill up with various desserts...

My dearest, darling, most beloved Anon has finally made a deviantART account, something that I've been encouraging you to do for ages now, and then I don't even notice for weeks. I'm so sorry about that darling!

I really do wish you had digitally poked me with a stick or something dear, when I didn't respond to your initial post sooner (because, after posting Harwick's birthday-art I'm afraid I may have forgotten to check on that older thread of mine again... erm..), but at least I have finally found you at last, so allow me to welcome you as warmly to this place as is possible! I am SO incredibly happy that we'll get to communicate with one another here, and it's a fabulous treat to see that you now have a place to upload your artwork (so that everyone else can enjoy it as well!), and I also love your new username of choice I must say. Now, I could never be disappointed in you, Diamonds, not for a moment! With all the work, and the comments, and the notes you've had to work through as of late, I could never expect you to have time for something as minor as this. You should already know you're unquestionably an astrounding friend, and not just for taking the time to write to me. My page may be empty, but your presence makes it so much brighter.

As always, you're too kind. It would just be rude of me to post to your profile comments to remind you that there is more on your blog to be read. Especially at time like now, I would hate to demand any more from you. On that note, thank you so much for the warm welcome! I can't imagine a better person to deliver such a thing. (Though Harwick definitely makes a great second. How I got so lucky, I won't ever know.) While I may not have much to contribute in conversation, I intend to take any excuse to be in your company. So the "toast overflow" isn't a fancier phrase for that crumb tray under the toaster that you have to empty every now and then to avoid a fire? In any event, it's a tasty looking breakfast spread you feature up above.

Welcome to Deviant Art! Or at least to having your own page here. Will we be seeing any of your artwork added to your gallery?

ToastOverflow In reply to harwicks-art [2013-03-16 04:41:24 +0000 UTC]

(Terribly late reply for great justice!)

Why, thank you Harwick, I'm already liking the view. I would invite you in for tea and biscuits from that ID image, but the truth is that if this page was an actual apartment, all of the rooms would be empty and there would be wires sticking out of the walls where appliances should be. As it stands, I'll still happily answer the door and pretend I live in a proper estate.

Ah, yes, admittedly I got tired of waiting for the right opportunity and went with the best "pony artist" type name I could find. There are many others with names in this style, like PixelKitties, HatsEnsamble and the ones I mentioned earlier. I like the way this one implies something chaotic but lighthearted, much like the show itself. I go by an entirely different name in the brony music community, as well. It's possible I might make another account in the future if I have something more professional to display, but for pony fanart, I think it will suffice for now. In any case, you don't have to worry about calling me by anything other than my usual "Anon". Who knows; if I'm still in any contact with all of you in a few years from now, we might just be using our real names anyway.

I do plan to upload that picture I made along with anything else I might produce in the future. I found that it looks like a slice of bread on a plate when you put a T inside an O, so I plan to use that for a signature for the time being.

I'm sorry to have stretched this comment on for so long, but I had a lot to cover on my first comment. Hopefully, I can keep up a bit better when I'm not stuck in the best blog on all the internets.
