Here are MANY more minecraft ideas that I would like you to consider from me. Please comment if you would like to know about any of them and how they are made and if you are going to try and consider them
Rope: Like a ladder except can be hung from a vertical ceiling and can be climbed in mid-air.
Table: Can be made out of many different materials and can be placed upon.
Chair: Can be sat on and a very simple furnishing for your house.
Fish-tank: Ever wanted to relieve the boredom of troubled nights? Just catch a fish and make a tank!
Chook-feed: Place it on the ground to attract chooks!
Pointers and markers: Like a compass and spawn point, these things will make minecrafters lives......a tad easier.

The fish tank can be built with blocks, so it's somewhat pointless unless you want it to be more specific and explain that one better.
The furniture, rope and food for chickens would be great ideas.
Oh, you can make a makeshift chair in this game by getting 2 signs and 1 wooden stair, place the stair anywhere, then put the signs on the sides of that stair block, and wallah! you got a makeshift chair
For the Pointer and marker, it would help a lot, but the only problem is that it takes the purpose out of the game. Because you pretty much remove the consequences to the game when you risk the challenge of going far away from home, unless it's extremely expensive with many valued materials like gold blocks then maybe.
I would like to use your ideas, but they aren't mine, I post my ideas that I've came up with, I did think about furniture and rope before so I'm probably gonna do that later on.

Ok, for the fish tank I'll give you the block scheme
X = FISH
Z = GLASS
Y = BUCKET OF WATER

The result is a 1 high, 3 wide glass tank with a small fish swimming around. They are very easy to break and you get the fish back when you do. Some water also flows out when you break it.
Pointer and marker construction goes like this.
Pointer:
X = Compass
Y = Diamond
Z = Gold

X = Redstone torch
Y = Glowstone BLOCK

So as you can see the pointer and marker can only be used ONCE in the WHOLE GAME. The marker is set on a speciffic point and the pointer (like a compass) points to it. They are EXTREMELY hard to break (like obsidian)
