If you use bases or someone else's drawing as a ref, you need to credit the original artist. Your drawings might get reported if you don't do that.

You should, since it's considered stealing. Sooner or later you'll get caught by the author and it will be a lot worse than just giving credit to the rightful owners of the base/drawing. There is nothing wrong with learning this way, as long as you credit the artists that made the drawings you're using.
