Hey, I'm in the AGP portfolio course in BCFE, and I'm just wondering, how much work did you have done for your NCAD portfolio when you started back after the christmas break? If you don't mind me asking that is.

I had barely anything done. Not many people did in fairness. It was just manic trying to fit all the work in.

Hey, nice stuff! Just wondering what you got for that poster in the leaving cert art exam? I did my portfolio for ncad last year and got in so I might see you there in september! But this year I'm repeating a few leaving cert subjects and would like to guarantee an A1 for the art practicles. Any tips if you remember??

teenx :) (Smile) you never really know what you get for your practicals. It's kept all hush hush. But my art teacher said it was close to an A1. But in saying that I ended up getting a B1. my art history let me down.

Erm tips... Just make sure you plan out your poster! work on your timing. do a quick practice poster the night before to make sure you can do it in the time allocated ( this will also get rid of a lot of stress) make sure that your design is not too labour intensive. Have areas of detail but also blank areas. this saves on time and you dont wan't your image to look too fussy. a nice balance does it.
Ermm use materials your comfortable with. I liked watercolours and fineliners so I used those. It's not the time to experiment with new mediums you won't know how to control... but if you are able use various different types of mediums.. i did this in my still life composition.. it's shows you are versatile.. erm that's all lI can think of...

Thanks for the help! I'm expecting my art history to let me down too so I want to to as well as possible in the practicals. I have the papers already so I have a while to work on my design and make a few practice posters. I had my irish oral today. Thank Christ that's over. Now I can go back to thinking about art stuff! Is NCAD your first choice? At the moment there's a ban on drinking on campus but it probably won't last haha.

oh gosh orals are a beast.
yup i think i'll keep it my first choice. getting my DIT results today but even if i do well in DIT I still think i'll choose NCAD.. you?

Yeah I heard the results are out today. If you got into NCAD then there's very little chance you didn't get into DIT, but good luck anyway! I got in there yeah. But I really want to go to NCAD.I didn't do Irish before and need to get that and the two higher level Cs. If I do that then I can carry over my portfolio from last year and all should be well. Have you still fetac work to do? You probably don't need it but it's good to have it anyway.

Ah well done! How about IADT? Did you apply there too?
There's no point in worrying too much about that fetac course stuff anyway. You probably have to do communications and write about work exp. which is all very boring!

Thank you very much for the fav! Hope you get in to N.C.A.D. but if you don't, try again, and try taking any art course you can. N.C.A.D also do night courses and portfolio preperation courses so that too is an option.
