I know.. someone asked me this question today at school.. Weither I like drawling creatures and such or people.
I said both, since I havent really drawn that many people yet. but it most likely will stay both since they are equally fun to draw.

I think the majority I've seen are anthro(s) (cat ears and stuff) and angels (humans with wings). I've never thought of giving my character a certain race, I usually give them jobs or whatnot (like a sinner or gunner, etcetc). ^^ As for colouring, I'm sure there are some CG tutorials out there that can help guide you. ^^
