Hey, thanks for the ! I appreciate it.
But tell me, how come "not Australian, but close"?

Wishful thinking.
"Aussie" is a contraction of my name - so my nationality has become a bit of a joke to some. >.<

Ah, I see!
I think I get it, to a certain extent - and it does have a certain appeal to my Austalian sense of humour, I must say ...

And you wonder how it is that we play football without body padding and helmets haha!
I must say, that was a rather amusing look at some of out deadlier creatures!

That's called rugby, and we try to stay as far away from rugby fans as possible.

You know, that's a good plan.
I was thinking of rugby league as opposed to rugby union, but the principle is the same. Why not add to the confusion of codes, and say that most of the world uses the term "football" (correctly, I'm afraid) to refer to "soccer".

On that particular point, I've never truly understood why we call it "football" when it should be "rugby for pansies".
And where the hell did the name "soccer" come from, anyway?? Wikipedia to the rescue!

hahaha - that's very funny!
Actually, I think I can hlp there. My understanding is that the name arose from the term "Association Football", to distinguish it from "Rugby Football". I just looked it up myself, and by golly, I'm right! This link [link] gave me my answer, if you haven't already found one!

Oxford.../sigh.
Off for brekkers now. ( XD that's my new favorite annoy-the-whole-room phrase now!)

A sigh over Oxford - don't tell me you're an Anglophile? I am myself, I'm just surprised to find others haha.
I'm sure that will work - until other people begin to adopt it too - won't that be fun?

Oh dear goodness, I'd have to off myself if 'brekkers' became widely accepted slang.

Yeah ... "Brekky" is acceptable, but "brekkers" - heaven help us!

lol. Even "brekky" is somewhat off-putting.
