Did you ever shared any of your models on this account account?

FAQ - Models requests and suchYo!
Since I keep getting requests from people who want links for my old XPS ports, I decided to write a full journal with questions and answers to link around.
Here's all you need to know about my ports and general models:
"Where are your XPS ports?"
GONE. They have been taken down a long time ago and I don't plan to reupload them anywhere else.
"Can I have this model?"
No. As I said they've been removed and I don't intend to share anymore.

"Please I read your journal and comments but I really need those models because my computer broke and I lost them. Please upload them on tumblr or send them to me please please please!!"
I'm sorry for your loss dearie, but nowadays you should know how technology works. You ALWAYS have to backup your files, either on an external drive or different PC. If you lost the models you once downloaded from me you can only blame your own mistake here, it's no concern of mine and I won't just take pity sending you wh

It's all written in my journal here.

Hey, got too busy to notice this right away, but there's news about the EU copyright directive. Apparently, Germany and France "ganged up" to overcome the opposition of the countries who voted against the draft and move the thing forward. There's still another vote in March-April before the directive is passed anyway. This news article (in Italian) seems to cover the various issues pretty nicely: www.wired.it/internet/regole/2…

Thank you for that. I really hoped it was over and yet they still want to move forward with it?

I have no words really.

I dunno what to think anymore. Maybe those countries who are favorable to the directive are trying to push this to get a favorable vote asap, out of fear that after the next EU elections it will be even harder for them to get a favorable vote (for good or worse, I assume that more Euro-skeptic people might get elected to the EU parliament after the upcoming elections which in turn could make a vote on a new EU copyright directive more difficult).

To me it looks like they are just trying to tie us up from spreading informations. Can someone please kick these idiots out? They are plague.

Let's see whether the elections in May will act as a cure! Just keeping my fingers crossed that we will not be swapping a nasty plague for a worse one...

Hi!

Just thought this might be of interest to you:

www.musicbusinessworldwide.com…

Looks like the latest vote on the new EU copyright directive has pushed approval far away for the time being, so art. 13 is unlikely to have effects any time soon.

Omg you made my day!! Thank you sooo much for letting me know. Last time I checked it seemed like the article got even more approvals and I wasn't feeling very positive about the outcome.

Looks like our Country finally decided to take action and care about the people for once, most likely all the petitions and the way YouTube + other sites have voiced their concerns managed to make a bigger impact.

Berserker79 In reply to Verahnika [2019-01-22 22:18:33 +0000 UTC]

Happy to hear that and your welcome! I'm pretty sure the lobbying by YouTube and other accounts played some part in this, plus it seems that some governments are unhappy how the art. 11 thing is to be implemented according to the draft. And with the upcoming European parliament elections looming closer, rumor is that the copyright directive is unlikely to get voted before the elections (andΒ  then who knows what will happen, maybe the newly elected parliament might scrap the whole thing entirely...).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Verahnika In reply to Berserker79 [2019-01-22 23:48:05 +0000 UTC]

Honestly this should be a valid reason to scrap it directly. No matter how much they want it, this is a clear sign people and Governments are against it, so why do they have to continue with this bs? People reacted, they speaked up and I actually did too on the official EU account. I asked more than once to explain to me what would happen with YT creators and artists like us... since they kept repeating the same thing about protecting them and nothing would change. Do you think they ever answered? Not even once, they didn't know what to say to people and they mostly copy-pasted the same automated response over and over. They didn't know themselves what to do about it, but I'm glad to see other politics saw how destructive this law might be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Berserker79 In reply to Verahnika [2019-01-26 18:06:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, it seems unlikely that the whole thing will be scrapped. While there are big players pushing against it, I'm sure there are big players that are favourable to it. In a way, I think that a revised copyright law could have benefits, considering that the current laws have hardly kept pace with the technological developments and the EU courts seized with infringement proceedings have to contend with more and more situations that were not even considered possible when the law was written. A revised copyright law could help courts to better distinguish between real infringements and legitimate uses and issue aligned decisions. However, I think that an outdated law is better than a new, badly-written one, especially when contentious provisions such as art. 11 and art. 13 are concerned. Rather than making things clearer, those seem to pave the way for more confusion and uncertainty, so I hope that at least those provisions will be scrapped.

And I think you are right that there's people there who don't know themselves what they are doing. I bet that a fair share of those politicians know next to nothing about copyright and how content creators, artists, etc are affected by copyright law. Guess it's not surprising that the resulting provisions end up being unclear, seeing that they are probably the result of compromise to appease as much supporters as possible to get a favourable vote. The result? We get unclear laws that are difficult to implement or are downright destructive and the problem of dealing with them simply gets bumped down on the people affected by those laws.

Sorry for the ranting, it's just that I find it so annoying to see stuff like this going on. Fingers crossed that those politicians who understood something was wrong with the draft directive will manage to fix it in a way which is useful for artists and copyright holders in general and dispense with the harmful provisions. At least, for the time being the current draft is stuck and it will probably stay like that for a while. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more news and let you know if IΒ  come across something interesting.
