Congrats on the new camera, I have a D-40x, let me give you a couple of tips. READ THE MANUAL!

Now for the second one; The camera doesn't make the shooter, the shooter makes the shot. I know, you've heard that before, but it is true!

You'll learn more just picking up the camera and shooting at dumb stuff around the room in odd moments, learning how to adjust the exposure settings................
