I've heard about your art, and that its fantastic...It's a shame that people can be such incredible morons when they put their minds to it, but please reconsider about leaving DA. You talked about how this place was a way to put up your art and get critiques, so there are a few assholes thrown in with the admierors (horrible spelling, but oyu get the point) they can be ignored, or reported if things get too out of hand. Case in point, DON'T GIVE UP! People like me, newbies, have yet to see what you can do, and if you give up, they win. As far as defending your space goes, you've got tons of people on your side as well as the admins. dont give up! :3

Been reading this whole thing, cause i have nothing better to do at the moment. I have nothing to do with anything here, it's none of my business what so ever, but still feel the need to say something anyway. I kept leaving DA cause i didn't like what others would say to me, it actually had nothing to do with anyone critiquing my art in general. I just kept having low self esteem about my art, and took what people said too much to heart. True, my artwork isn't the best, but it represents me and my emotions, and is an expression of how i feel. I get critiques on it though, not all of them are as positive as i would like, but I take it with a grain of sand and take in what suggestions people have for me to improve my artistic skills. Not saying thats what this person did here, hell, all he did was rate your art and say you had potential, not much of a critique. I agree that the 2 star effect and the retaliating excuse " You will never improve if you dint listen to others with more experience." was a bit of a crock and ego jolt. Some artist improve on their own, some practice by themselves, some take schooling. Talent comes in many ways, but its not about impressing, or shouldn't be. It's about your emotions, about what you enjoy, and how you feel. Not what other people call it. But this is an open gallery, which means people have the right to critique another's work, and have open opinions on what they see. Which means it's not the end of the world, and shouldn't make you think less of your artwork. No matter if someone is trying to be helpful, or just be obnoxious and boast immaturely. These things shouldn't matter to you, which is a hard thing to say, because its hard not to take things to heart when it comes to your own art. But don't let your emotions fire out of control because of what others say, they will say what they want to regardless of how you feel. Positive or Negative, just nod and go about your way. Don't let it stop you from creating, if you get that negative vibe from someone, just don't acknowledge them. Experience is not best learned from pride and gloating, but from the enjoyment of what you do and how you've grown while doing it. Or so my own experience has taught me. It's just my own personal feelings on the subject. Even if you may not be apart of DA anymore, never stop creating for the sake of others and what they say. Create for yourself.
(P.S.- With DA's knew feature, you can disallow comments, or warn others that critiquing isn't welcome on your page, if your more comfortable with that. If you do decide to return)

To this entire thing, I would like to say noone deserves to be criticized, ESPECIALLY when you do NOT know the person.
That is f*ing stupid.
To this entire debate, what's the point if you want to say "you have potential but you can do better" than just rant on their front page because you are in emotional distress about others?
Its pointless and not needed and harmfully immature.
I've seen dozens of people go on a page, say they need work and leave.
That just shows how much time YOU are taking to say they are crap, leaving you hypocritical in your own sense.
So it all boils down to the person who STARTED it, making it an offensive remark without knowing it.
Some people can be heartless, some aren't. Its just that people don't think about what they say and realize later how stupid and idiotic it looks.
So for the person who started this mess, don't ever go on like this again, you'll only get yourself worse.
As for the rest, DA is indeed a "storage" area, even if its meant for an artist place.
Don't like it? Go to photobucket or use DA. Either way, its fine. I see tons of people using this place for a storage, even though that's not its purpose, its an option, not a death rate.
So let's leave this at peace and get on with our lives.

Ya know, if you want to critique someone do it in a note or someway more private then on their front page. We all know that we're not the best but we don't want people coming on and saying, "Hey, you need more work 'cause I don't think you're that good" where everyone else can see it. People can take critque, it's just annoying when someone doesn't have the brains to consider that your talking to a person who has feelings and emotions and probably wouldn't like it if you posted that "They need work" on their front page. I mean, for the love of all that is holy, have some freakin consideration for your fellow human being. The main page comment system is for comments about the gallery in general, thats what i used it for. Notes are for more personal stuff which is unrelated to art.

First off, boy, I'm older then you, so shut your damned mouth about calling me immature, calling someone immature just shows how much of a child you are if that's going to be your insult. Besides, since when did you determine what muturity is. Two, Not everyone uses DA for the same reason you do, so don't think they do. I originally started using it to store pictures on the internet so I could easily move them between computers without having to waste a CD or Floppy disc on just one pic. Three, I'm not starting this argument for kicks, what you said obviously offended her if it was enough to push her to leave DeviantArt. In all the time I've been on here I've never seen someone leave because they were offended, but you seem to have the ability to push people to that. As for the note system, I give people notes to tell them that they did good on sometihng and from the feedback I've gotten from it, most people prefer it to comments, everything here doesn't have to be used the way YOU see fit. Ya know what else, I don't care if it's someone elses problem, she's a fellow artist, one that I happened to like quite a bit, so you, pushing her to the point where she wants to leave, pretty much makes it my business.
