"the swallow's tower" , i think ... i've read it within one night ... but the whole saga is just awesome . and i really really liked Cahir . he was so ... awkward . but really nice . ; dd

If I remeber it right "the swallow tower" was the one where Vilgefortz hired that bastard Bonhard to hunt down Ciri right? That was my favourite too. And about the charachter ... I think my most favourite was Ciri... and Geralt of course

StainlessRose In reply to VojtCzech [2010-10-25 18:43:15 +0000 UTC]

Geralt is my master ... and i loved Ciri because she was so imperfect and had to learn on her mistakes ... i also really liked Regis because he was probably the most unusual ... ; d well , for me " Withcher " is so brilliant mostly because of characters . they're natural and a bit different than in most of books ... similiar to us , ordinary mortals ... but the whole of the world created by Sapkowski is very similiar to the real world ... Polish especially . i smiled a few time when i found a reference to our history and culture . ; d

Regis...almost forgot about him...he was a great character, his humor was great too Excelent part was in that camp where he had to prove that they are not vampires. That he wouldn't have done it if he wasn't one showed how hopeles were those medieval wich and vampire hunts... I really liked the Sapkowski's conception of vampires... that they drink blood like we drink alcohol and stuff. He didn't use those old vampire cliches... that was really different from other fantasy universes and it was one the things that made the book(as you said)... natural, so believable and adult.

... and he was the master of replies . ; d
sometimes i think that Sapkowski's succes and whole magic of his books is based on unordinary and often surprising view on almost every matter , and fantasy books are usually schematic ...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VojtCzech In reply to StainlessRose [2010-10-29 00:00:17 +0000 UTC]

Yes indeed Unordinary and often surprising but still closer to reality than other fantasy... you know it was fantasy... but still I had a feeling that it could have happend... don't know how to desribe it :-D ... and great was that not everything was always black and white. That is something often used in fantasy genre.

StainlessRose In reply to VojtCzech [2010-10-29 20:42:12 +0000 UTC]

yes , and it often makes it boring . well , it is realistic also because quite many plots are taken straight from polish history ( not sure if i've mentioned it earlier ... ; d ) .
