Well, technically you'll have to know your camera thuroughly, as well as using the light to your advantage.
But furthermore it's about ideas and creativity, letting go of yourself in an artistic manner. A fancy typewriter and the ability to hit the keys fast don't automatically make a great author...
So generally; experiment a lot, use your imagination, and make projects/goals for yourself. Not much more I can say, but perhaps a push in the direction of finding your own style!
