Oh yes, some time I had work in Finland. It was not so far from my home, but I had customs on
my way ... and if you know customs it is much time to lose when you in line.
Wipe off all borders and pull down all customs!

Indeed... customs can be a pain.

They *are* necessary to keep out drugs, illegal firearms and terrorists' bombs though.

Liquor and cigarettes are a big part of customs hassles at both the US' borders as well (Canada and Mexico).

For the most part it is, but there are very high taxes and strict regulations on alcohol and tobacco that make it difficult to bring it back from another country.

It is easier to transport the amounts and types of alcohol and tobacco legal in the US into the country via ship, yacht, coach, train or car than on an airplane due to terrorism-related concerns, but if you have Cuban rum or tobacco (or any other Cuban-made item), untaxed cigarettes or cigars beyond what I recall to be 10 packs or boxes per person, absinthe with a higher wormwood content than is legal here, caffeinated alcoholic beverages like Buckfast Tonic Wine, Asian wines containing dead reptiles, or beyond what I recall to be 5 liters of beer, wine or spirits per person, you will be in trouble.

Thanks! You gave me full information about US customs rules. Knowledge can't be a unnecessary.
And if I'll be cross USA bound (if it will be), I'll never take banned things. If you remember
I'm ex-seaman and I know rules of the game.
As well ... when we visited African countries (for example: Angola,Yemen), we wrote even soap
and toilet water in our customs declaration. Oh, yes it was a good time ... big sun, large
moon and hot african girls! Wow!

Sounds like the US and a few other United Nations countries are pulling nonessential diplomats out of Yemen due to terrorism concerns.
