Oh your welcome anytime! It was absolutly amazing! I mean you did everything proportionatly and nothing was too black or too white, the expression matched spot on, just.. It was stunning! One day I hope I can manage to do my realisms as good as that!

Don't worry about asking me questions, I'm always happy to answer! Actually, I didn't really count the hours, because I drew it for school, so I drew at home, at school, at home again... But all in all, I suppose it took around 7-8 hours. I just like to work and re-work on details for a long time.

Ok, well, even if I know I'm not the best realist artist here on dA, I can tell what I learned about it through experience, I suppose? (I'm still a beginner - I have better skills with markers.)
Realism indeed asks a lot of practice. This way you can figure how some things work. First, the material is important: I used to draw on basic printing paper, but for realism, I personally think it's better if you use a thicker paper, because it gives some pretty neat texture. The pencils you use are also important: I mainly use 4B and 6B, instead of basic HB. Different pencil will give a different effect, it's funny to to use them all and compare for that kind of work.
The best tip I could give you is to take care of the shadows. Seeing you Summoner WIP (which is pretty cool! ) I see you do as I did before: you work more on the lineart. The method I used for Karkat is a little different: if you draw digitally, you must be familiar with layers? Well, I kinda used that. Sounds weird for traditional, but let me explain: first, I drew the lineart, but reallllllly lightly. Then I colored lightly Kar's face; then added a few shadows where it was needed, then more shadows, and more shadows, and more... until the shapes look correct.
... err, that's a bit confused, I hope you understood what I meant.
But yeah. Working on shadows makes the shape look more natural.

woops, sorry for the wall of text, I guess I should stop writing that much when I explain something! Ha ha. Anyways, I hope some of these tips can help you. Feel free to ask if you have any question.

For thicker paper do you think that, like a Canson Sketch paper would work? Or just sketch paper in general? Because I do notice that since its sketch its not perfectly smooth like printer paper is! :'D And have you ever used charcoal by anychance for things like this? Because I got a nice set of charcoal pencils for christmas, though for just normal pencils I end up having to use a mechanical. ^_^' I was just wondering!

Canson paper is what I used. For Karkat, it was a 160 or 180 gr/m2 (don't know anymore, I have too many different papers. )But yes, I suppose that sketch paper would out fine. ^^ As I said for pencils - have fun by doing some tests and experiences, that's the best way to find what you prefer!
About charcoal, I'm sorry, I can't really help. I only used it once for school, and the result was just... terrible. Looks like it's just not my thing (I need to work on details, and that's harder with that medium). So nope, I have no tips about that. But I'm sure you'd do better than me (since worse is impossible! XD)
About mechanicals, I use them a lot, but I really think they're not the best thing you can use for realism. It makes it really hard to get pretty shadows. For realism, my tips would be "the blackest the better". I find it hard to get good result with anything under 2B. For Karkat, I used a 4B. (Just in case you're not familiar with the pencils grading: [link] ) It's up to you to play with the lead of the pencil -sharpest for the lines and details, less for the shading work.

And see I heard that they smudge alot, and I smudge for alot of my shading! So thats why I was just wondering! Though you can't have done that bad! XD
