Me, I read the translated Let's Play on Something Awful and tried the English patch from Project Zetsubou.

Glad to see you haven't changed much over the past few years. So what do you do nowadays (besides Vocaloid and video games), and what's with the inactivity?

I sorta strayed away from this site too, though that was because my tastes grew and I sorta got sick of the community. Nowadays, I hunt out and analyze the best pieces of fiction (got to invest my free time wisely), make fun of bad stuff (like Tom Preston), study all kinds of stuff (I'm pretty good at critiquing art now and figuring out what makes good fiction), and read the good stuff on Spacebattles.

I still watch and play some Japanese stuff, but only what I deem to be the very best. I've recognized some of the more...puerile stuff and stayed away from that sort of entertainment, plus I've expanded to more international stuff.

By the way,

1) Attack on Titan? It's slightly overrated, but it's pretty much the first "mainstream" anime in a long time (so long since a show didn't have obnoxious fanservice) since Madoka. Fanbase is entertaining, smart, and dumb at the same time.

2) I think you would like Ken Ashcorp. He seems like the type of guy you would want to emulate.

Hrm... Besides my two loves? I'm currently scripting 4 different games. Looking at colleges for video game development and design and found my dream college. Travel around with a martial arts group comprised solely of black belts. And... Other things, but that's primarily it. How about yourself there, kiddo, aside from what you already said? Anything new going on as of late?

1) Haven't checked it out yet. But if its anything like Puella Magi, then I'm game for it!

I got enough money for a tablet from a TA job from UC Berkeley. Though I can't buy one because my parents say STUDYSTUDY blabla. And they're making me retake a cleass I already grumble grumble APs grumble. Well, it's senior year for me, might as well enjoy myself while I can.

My older sister and her boyfriend are visiting us from Harvard this weekend. Its been fun showing Steven around California.

Applying to Yale, Deep Springs, US Coast Guard Academy, West Point.

Interests so far: digital art, webcomics, writing, multimedia, programming, animation, digital music making (I know a friend who's really good at it), and filmmaking.

For free time, I read webcomics. Paranatural, Ava's Demon, and Cucumber Quest are particularly good. Webcomics are actually a major inspiration in my art now.

And yeah, good fanfiction. Seriously, good writers can make garbage like Familiar of Zero and A Certain Magical Index interesting and exciting.

Also,

1) The anime that everybody's talking about, both in Japan and the U.S., the anime that spawned a torrent of memes unseen since Puella Magi (the OP is pretty much the new Guile's theme; put it to anything and it automatically makes it epic. Observe: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDHCLj…), the anime that's pretty much the first "mainstream" one since Puella Magi, the anime that isn't set in high school for once and actually focuses on plot and characters instead of gratuitous fanservice, the anime that I can talk about with other people in real life, and you've never heard of it?

Watch it. It should be pretty similar to Fullmetal Alchemist, except imagine steampunk Spidermen having to fight against a torrent of giant homunculi twice the size of transformed Envy.

I actually find it a bit overrated now ever since *SPOILER SPOILER* happened, since it reminds me a bit too much of Naruto and I wanted medieval Walking Dead instead of that. Still, it's the most original thing to come out of Japan for a while now, and it's interesting enough for me to follow, so long as Eren isn't onscreen.

For a cringe comedy I'm sure you can relate with, there is also Watamote.

2) Ken Ashcorp's a guy who makes original music that panders to geeks. He's really good too, though I don't like some of his newer stuff. Here's a song of his: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm7bTv…

The first few episodes are NOTHING compaird to the original trailers. As soon as plot line develops further I'm sure it will catch up and get better, but in the mean time, they have to give us a story!
Anyway, cut them some slack. They are working within the limited time frame of A SINGLE WEEK to release new episodes, and you can't possibly tell me that it's easy to make an absolutely perfect piece of 3D animation within that time frame. If it were motion graphics, then maybe, I might expect it to be better, but it's not, and film companies working with 3D design take YEARS to perfect the work. The reason the trailers are so good is because they had months to work on them, as opposed to a SINGLE WEEK.

On the other hand, I can't say I disagree with you on the voice acting. : s It was really jarring at first, but after a while you get used to them, as you begin to see the character that Monty Oum tried to create rather than the one we made in our minds.

I guess if you don't like it then dont watch it *shrugs* Not everything is for everyone, is it~? XD
