Personality
America is cheerful, energetic and conceited. He is obsessed with heros, justice and freedom and has a habit of sticking his nose into everyone else's business which actually makes it hard for him to gain friends who don't get tired of him. He loves junk food and hamburgers to the point of obsession and can eat all sorts of weird things due to inheriting England's sense of taste (or lack of). America doesn't read the atmosphere in any situation, even though he's been told to, he just chooses not to. On some occasions Alfred can become calm and serious and so become very logical, reading further into things than he usually would and actually read the atmosphere.



Before the Cold War, America and Russia didn't seem to hate each other so much but after that seemed to change. Alfred didn't really trust Ivan a whole lot in the first place but it was better before the war. At the end of the Cold War however it was mostly sexual tension between the two of them but now Alfred just thinks Ivan wants to destroy him and that he hates Ivan, but not everything he says his true to what he really thinks. Apart from the fact he does get a little creeped out by the other Superpower. In fact after his independence, America went straight to Russia to almost form a sort of alliance, many would have thought it was to spite England and in a way it was, but Alfred actually had a crush on Ivan but would never tell him.


Due to the rise in sexual activity in teenagers in the states, Alfred can become quite lustful if provoked, especially if his cowlick, representing Nantucket, is rubbed, tugged or deliberately touched. This could be good or bad depending if the other person had intended to do it, just expect a rough experience ((*Shot*)). Also if it is pulled hard enough America may end up speaking French or Spain, depending on how much it has been pulled.


America does see Canada and always knows he's there, even if others don't. The problem is if something catches Alfred's attention then he will go to that and seemingly forget about his older brother and maybe, yes, forget about him, well until he is finished with whatever he was doing and go back to Canada like nothing happened.


America was glad to get his indipendence at first. He didn't have England nagging at him all the time, saying what he should wear, working on his manners and just basically being without as much freedom as he wanted. However as time went on Alfred started to miss those times, though would never admit it as he thought it was a victory to the Arthur. America needs England's help more than what people may think but he always covers it up by saying it is him being the hero and that he doesn't need any help from the brit. He may have gotten the freedom he wanted, but in gaining this, ticked off the one person he was closest to throughout his childhood and maybe ruining their bond.


Alfred is actually quite self conscious about his body, being called fat so many times has actually knocked his confidence in his body and whenever he goes on the scales finding he is actually quite heavy. However, he doesn't understand how muscle weighs more than fat due to muscle being much denser, he says he works out like a champion but notices he actually gets slightly heavier. Alfred is actually very well built due to his workout sessions and has a pretty low body fat percentage, the fat in his body is more internal and around his organs than external. Though he still has a bit of chub. It doesn't seem to matter if anyone explains this to him though as he will still see himself as fat.


When Alfred is asleep he will hug and curl up to anything close to him that he can, usually a pillow, but it it is something that is warm or someone sleeping next to him there is a likely chance he won't let go until he wakes up.


Alfred may seem simple and act like an idiot but when he is calm around the other naions he can tell most of them find him annoying. He never means to be it is just the way he is and no matter how hard he tries to change he can't keep it up for long and will end up going back to his normal self. It makes him kind of sad when he doesn't seem to be able to get along with the Allies without them getting tired of him. However, whenever he does decide to have a day where he could make a change everyone becomes suspicious as they jump to the conclusion he has done something wrong or just don't seem to acknowledge the change.


The reasons for Alfred's loud and hyperactive behaviour are mostly to do with his nation being just that, not to mention the amount of sugar he has during the day off all the milkshakes he drinks as well as the sweets and ice cream he eats. However, he also acts like this because it makes him feel better when the US falls on hard times or remembers something painful i.e. 9/11.


Alfred has many scars from different events. A few of them are, some crisscrossed on his shoulder from 9/11, a scar left after a burn over his heart from when Canada had set fire to the White House and scars scattered over his inner thighs from the Florida wars. However, the one that still ached if too much preasure is put on to it is a scar that runs from the middle of Alfred's waist to his opposite hip which is from the civil war that almost ripped America in half.


Alfred has a sort of protectiveness over Arthur even if it may not seem like it most of the time. He himself doesn't like to show it but if England ends up getting into trouble America will do all he can to help and protect the brit, he may even keep an eye on him from time to time. This protectiveness comes from when he was little and how Arthur always cared for him and protected him, but now he feels he needs to return the favour now that he is grown up.


After living for so long with England, America is actually able to see mythical and magical beings. However, it is not something he can control and Alfred can only see them if they are having an impact on him i.e. touching, moving him ect. America doesn't believe this however and still thinks Arthur is crazy because of his 'imaginary' friends.


The reason for Alfred's fear of ghosts is down to the stories Arthur used to tell him as a child. Some stories he liked but the more spooky ghost stories scared the nation and caused him to even have nightmares about it, sometimes Alfred would go to Arthur for comfort for the night and sleep with him to feel safer. Even so, Alfred is still fastinated by the supernatural world and always watches ghost movies in a hope of curing his phobia and to feed his curiosity. You could even say he misses the brit's storytelling but will never tell anyone this fact.


America is quite fond of wolves, they are one of his favourite animals besides his most favourite animal, the eagle. The reason being is because the Native Americans are symbolised by the white wolf as it was seen as a spiritual animal in the tribes in the north. This type of wolf would resemble that of Canis lupus nubilus or the Great Plains Wolf which once occupied most of the Western US, Southeastern Alaska and Centeral and Northeastern Canada but also has the largest range of subspecies in North America. The colour white has always been a symbol of purity so the white wolf was seen as the purest of wolves. In every country the nation is symbolised by some kind of animal which could be seen as spirit animals. Obviously the current American nation is repretented by the bald eagle though many ancestors of the old tribes still prefer to be repreasented by the wolf as their tradition.


When Alfred isn't doing any of his national jobs or gaming he is also in the police force and is known as the 'Blue Police'. Usually he will were a cowboy hat but when he is in his police car he will have a police hat in there too, he only wears it when he's on foot patrol. The reason for him working in the police force to to get his own money instead of always getting money from the president all the time.


Alfred is also in the military in his spare time when he doesn't need to be in the police force. He thinks if he is in the army it will prepare him for anything that comes his way as well as the fact he wasn't to fight by the side of his men and help them win.


It may not seem like eating so many burgers and junk food has done America any arm but it has done a lot of damage, especially to his heart. Alfred is only physically 19 years old but he has already had 12 heart attacks due to all the bad food he eats, mostly his burgers. This is a big problem for him and he is constantly told to cut down but he simply says he's fine. Though his heart does cut out in his sleep some times and somehow gets going again before he wakes up.
