Advice! Um. Paint a lot, try to learn from your influences, try new things, use references, color theory is your best friend.
Also, as something that's digital application specific, don't be afraid to use hard-edged brushes instead of soft ones. It can make a big difference.

By all means, start out with soft brushes, but for detailing and making certain parts of the picture pop out, use hard brushes.
