gouache is an opaque watercolor, most commonly used as a design medium it can be thinned with water to a watercolor consistency or used practically straight out of the tube like oil. it can be hard to control, muddies easily, but i find it incredibly versatile. look it up on dickblick.com, i recommend w&n designers gouache.
p.s., its pronouced gwash

Oh yeah I was looking at guoche and its just as expensive as oil paints.. man thats like alot of money...
