Of course I remember you. 
I found out later that my teacher was in fact, very wrong. I don't keep in touch with her, though. She was my teacher in California, but I left California in 2007. I'm not sure if she's even still teaching there.

PS - the past form of "read" is still "read", so you got it right. It's just said differently; like "red".
