Sorry, I have a revelation to share with you.

You prolly know this though, but I never knew this.

Okay, so I was googling random stuff and came across the Tangled TvTropes page, and I found this trope applied to Eugene:

"Heroic Bastard: Implied in a rather clever bit of 'Genius Bonus/Getting Crap Past The Radar', the surname Fitz-blank originally designated the bearer as the bastard son of blank."
That's some grade A fanfic fodder right there.

At least for anyone interested in the bastard child angle.
Sometimes people get too melodrama with that shiz though.
