Hello can i ask you for an request or arttrade or collab???
And would you be ok if the theme is bellydancing?
Oh and before i would send then the note (if you like doing the RQ/AT) which styl of bellydancing yourself and your OC ladies would like to learn:
Turkish bellydance (wild, less acrobatic) or Kurdish (slow but majestic)???

You may make a request if you'd like. I'm a little busy working on some new deadlines, but I'm sure I could draw something you'd like in my spare time. If you send me a note, we can probably work something out.

Oh, I'd love to - and totally felt like it when I was done - but if I did I'd rather try do do it in a more unique style. I also have other projects I'm working on, so basically the answer is no. :/ I did this one specifically as an exchange with my younger sister. But...you never know.

Do you think SM could work as a live action movie?

Oh, I meant to give you this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nrp6O9…
It's a pretty well done attempt by a private group with new style ideas. The acting was a bit embarrassing at times, but it was still quite fun to watch.

Hmm. There have been real attempts made, you know. They all flopped because they were all missing key elements, either in storytelling, camera/fx work, or acting. As it is known for being now, no, not really. I don't think it will work. It would have to be rewritten by a very intelligent writer to be adapted for the big screen. I think that we take live action movies too seriously for the mood that is Sailor Moon.

Hmm, I'm trying to write a script myself (just for fun) that tells the origin of Sailor Moon but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do it. Being an American and all this is a hard one to adapt. I might be too dumb to do it right but hopefully I get it eventually.

Well, see what you can see that has been done. Really pay attention to what works and what doesn't. You should also find out what attracts you to SM. What aspect, atmosphere, or theme do you like the most, do you want to emphasize the most? Use that as your backdrop, then start building an event timeline. Balance out the events with the theme you like the most (drama for example) and secondary themes (comedy, which is backwards from the actual series). What's tricky is letting good ideas go when they ruin that balance, or when it's too much information (let the viewer figure things out on their own - Japanese shows really, really spell things out for the viewers.). Yes, being American is going to make it tough. You also need to think of your audience. American? We Americans tend to like realistic drama and surprising heroics and happy endings after a close call. We favor cool, level-headed characters that are still underdogs. Sailor Moon herself is supposed to represent a pretty typical Japanese junior high girl, but emphasizes the unlikely match of ditzy + main hero. That creates comedy. What do you want to create?

Well, I've always loved the Moon Kingdom/ Princess Serenity storyline and her relationship with Tuxedo Mask. Not quite sure how to balance so many main characters (the other 8 Senshi and Luna plus the Dark Kingdom characters) without some of them being underdeveloped.

YumeSprite In reply to LanceEH [2013-11-25 02:13:21 +0000 UTC]
But that is something you need to do. Do you watch Game of Thrones? I love it so much, but all I hear from people who read the books is, "There are so many characters they didn't even introduce! And that character did so much more than just that!" But the show is undeniably good. Books don't have a time limit, but movies do. TV shows are in that grey area. The key might be to drop hints here and there that provide evidence of individual character back story, but stay on track with Serenity and Endimion. It would be good to then pair up Luna and the Queen, then the Senshi as secondary character groups. Think of where you want the story to begin, where you want it to completely end, then fill it in with purposeful events. Then...cut out the ones that just don't progress the main plot, as nice as they may be, or find a way to reference them in one line or one or two looks. The Moon Kingdom is definitely a great place to tell a story. And because it's actually the starting point for a much bigger story, it's OK to start a couple of mysterious threads and leave them unfinished - so long as you keep focus on your main theme and plot.

Wow! Thank you very much! I'm flattered you stopped by and liked what you saw! It was an old university project that took a month, so I had to completely finish 3 drawings a day every day. That way drawing took just under half the time of making the book, which had to be constructed by hand, too. Tracing the lettering took one full day and almost killed my hand, and the coloring took two days, and knotted my arm and back. I had two free ski lift tickets, and because of that class I never got to go and use them. But I loved it so much! Yes, I'd love to redo it, too.

What really impressed me was the originality of your work! I call it DEVINE!
And you have a great concept to make into a graphic novel which would be very popular on mobile devices
I would be your first customer

Hahaha, thanks a lot for that. At the time I made the book, I brainstormed as many memories as I could in one hour, then chose the top 30 funny or unique ones. I had a lot more I could have done! After the project, I almost did. But like I said somewhere in that journal of mine, there was only time to keep up with new projects and life. Thanks again for all those faves! There are about 10 more pages coming...should I brace myself...?
