oh thats awesome, your architecture system is
part I+II ??
I guess it works out right, ours is a 6 year system too
but first 4 is bachelors degree, then 2 years for masters.
then after 2-3 years internship will take the ARE- registration exam.

Well its Part 1,2 and 3 The degree is 3 years then you normaly work for a year, then you do you part 2 which is a diploma which takes 2 years and then you work again and take the final exams for your part 3 to be fully qualified. I think ours is about 7 or so years in total.
So I take it then you are in your final year of the degree then if it takes 4 years?

Yep, sounds pretty similar, it's all the AIA
which prob models itself after its British counterpart lol
Ours ends up being 7-8 years anyways, 80% of the people finish the
first 4 years in about 5 years. Over there you are not a registered
architect till after the third part (exams), correct?
yesss I am in my 4th year, what year are you in?

TaNgeriNegreeN1986 In reply to Zagros001 [2009-06-27 00:25:41 +0000 UTC]
Haha yea it probably does model itself on the RIBA
Yep thats correct you are not an architect until you have done parts 1,2 and 3.
Well of the whole process I have done 3 years, so I have just finished my degree. I'm now looking for a job for my year out before I go back for the part 2.

nice, what kinda of work are you interested in?
I'd prefer to work with a smaller firm, which
what I've planned for next summer, hopefully!

As in styles or type of firm I would like to work for?? Yea I would definetly like to work for a smaller firm, I think it would be quite easy to be forgotten in a bigger firm.
Oh nice, have you found a firm already then?? Or do you still need to look?

Yeah, the Corpotect firms are engulfing the majority of my colleagues
but I'm planning on working with a small firm, really anywhere-
preferably in EU so I can do my grad school there, hopefully.
but that search has proven harder than expected lol.....
so i might have to just continue here in DFW, just bang out the rest of the two years and take the exam

Haha Oh awsome, well yea at the moment no one in this neck of the woods seems to be employing much, give it a couple of years though and I'm sure it will be alot better.
Woudl you like to end up over here then when you are fully qualified???

the day people notice the similarity between and atom and a supernova
will be the day that humanity will wake up to the fact the simplest answer is the right answer. people should live like people......for better or worse. :/
