It'd be nice to meet your illustration buddies as well, since I'll be a minimum of 1000 miles away from my high school friends. (I'm the only person from my school who has EVER gone to Ringling. I'm glad you're going, and it must be pretty cool to be the first from your school! I can definitely try to introduce you to the people I'll know in illustration. I guess college involves making new friends in any case. I left my closest friends in Arkansas more than a year ago...

3D is really fun to play with...IF you can get your hands on the software, a good tablet, and a computer with epic graphics and processing power. I had the opportunity to work on Wacom Cintiq tablet screen gaming computers, equipped with Zbrush and Maya, and they STILL crashed all the time. So basically, if you can handle occasional hair-tearing frustration, you'll love working in 3D.
Now I must go perform inception on my best friend's parents and convince them to let her get a cell phone before we both go off to college. Tee hee.

Uh, yeah, I may smash a couple of laptops in the beginning. Computer crashes are the worst... but I've had some experience with low-capacity computers and huge art programs so I guess I'll be prepared.
Maybe once she's in college your friend will be able to get her own cell phone. ^_^
