# About me
Diana Portokalidis is an artist who is inspired by experiences from those around her, as well as from her own life. She is interested in how personal stories can express hidden traumas. In her art, Diana explores what is often left unspoken. She primarily works with dreamlike images, set in a delicate veil of blue, subtly tipping the scale from beautiful to slightly unsettling.BECOME A FAN ON FACEBOOK:

Hey. You ever online? I have a question to ask you, if you get this...
Is art something fun and bubbly, and something a person can enjoy?
I got into a weird argument with a person who goes to a school dedicated to art.. he believes that art is supposed to be hard, painful and a labor-filled task.
What do you think about this?

Depends on what you want to achieve with your drawing.
Charcoal is really good for blending and shading.
You can use your finger to blend things in.
Charcoal tends to get very messy, but if you don't mind that, it can be alot of fun to work with.
Try both the williow sticks and the compressed kind and see which one you like better. (The willow is extremely fragile)
Also try charcoal pencils
Graphite pencils create very smooth, shiny drawings.
You have more control with these pencils in terms of fine details.
These are really great for making realistic drawings.
You can still achieve a good range of lights and greys with this pencil.
But if you want to add in a really dark area into your drawing, I usually use Conte.
It's not as powdery as charcoal and you can get really good darks out of it.
Hope this helps

Is charcoal or graphite better to use than just pencil?
I see drawings with those and they are awesome ._. Just asking you, cause you're an expert at that stuff.
