"How about a big hug for your ol' pal Merle?"
A Southern redneck, Merle is extremely ill-tempered, racist, volatile and quick to express his beliefs. Much like his younger brother, Merle is an expert tracker and hunter. He is deadly with firearms, and his hand-blade attachment proves to be one of his deadliest weapons. He is an experienced bruiser, showcased in the first season when he dominated T-Dog in a fist-fight, and at the same time was able to fend off Rick, Morales, and Glenn simultaneously. He was also able to fend off Michonne's sword attacks with his hand-blade. Merle was The Governor's right-hand man, all the while striving to find his brother. However, he later comes across Glenn and Maggie and takes them back to Woodbury as prisoners, going as far as to brutally beat Glenn into revealing information about the prison.
After the prison group came to the rescue of Glenn and Maggie, Merle was then branded as a traitor by The Governor, and became an enemy of Woodbury.

{ Dale's death was very hard to take in, especially how gruesome it had to be. He was in a way the last person who still had his humanity left inside him. Hopefully Daryl doesn't die. It just really sucks how his brother can't be there for him anymore. }

[ Indeed. I hate to say it, because I love Carl, but he was definitely involved in Dale's death, wasn't he? Carl set the walker free and then it was out on the land. I really wish he had lived longer so not just me, but other fans too, could see the growth of that character. All the characters have grown so much to the last few seasons.Β

((Yes! Once I actually found out about his motivation, he seemed like a character that I could sympathize with much easier than that jackass they left on the roof. It's so interesting what one tiny revelation about a character can do to alter their appearance. He totally would have made an amazing asset! He and Daryl, from what I could tell, tended to kind of build off of each other in the past. It would have been really amazing to see them fight together.))
