Favorite album/favorite song?

alexskyline In reply to Jet-Kai [2013-12-28 01:25:56 +0000 UTC]
Oooohhh, are you kidding me... Hybrid/Meteora/Living Things for the albums, Breaking The Habit, Pushing Me Away, By_Myslf for the songs. But there's more.
What are yours?

Jet-Kai In reply to alexskyline [2013-12-28 02:13:07 +0000 UTC]
I definitely am more of a fan of the older, original albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. My favorite songs have always been One Step Closer, Numb, and Iridescent and The Messenger from A Thousand Suns. The first two were the ones that got me into LP when I was about six years old. The other two are super personal that helped me get through my low point in life a few years ago.
Have you heard A Light That Never Comes?

We got into them at about the same time, then! And yes, the albums I named are just the ones I love every single song from. Those three ones just have a bit but more special place in my heart.
Not yet, I keep forgetting on checking it out. Is it a good one?

Well, it definitely doesn't hold a candle to their old stuff. It's pretty much completely made up of electronic and techno noises, and dubstep. I don't BOT like it, but I don't particularly LIKE it either. I wish they'd go back into their harder, more rockish sound.Β

alexskyline In reply to Jet-Kai [2013-12-28 04:27:11 +0000 UTC]
Dubstep, eh... Then again, I'm quite into that Korn/Skrillex song, so I won't judge blindly.
I know the feeling, I get that longing for old-schoolish stuff as well. But at the same time I'm glad to see them developing and taking their music at the new level, while retaining their signature sound and energy. You know, how they say they didn't want t release the third HT, so they started experimenting. There are bands out of there with carbon copy-like albums, and I think it's a really good thing they didn't go that way.
I'm not particularly fond of half the songs from MtM and ATS, and I regard them as a transition period, but then LT went out and it was brilliant to me. So basically, I can trust them on whatever they do, I'm sure they're gonna master it. Β

Yeah, A Thousand Suns had to be my least favorite album. Not sure why. Minutes to Midnight is *okay* but it could have been better. I was pleasently surprised by Living Things as well! My favorite songs on that album are Lost in the Echo, Burn It Down and Until It Breaks. I pride myself on being able to sing both Chester's lyrics and Mike's raps. ^_^Β
Especially Hands Held High. Oh yes. Mmm...
You SHOULD try A Light That Never Comes. I mean, it's OKAY, like I said, but not the best. Who knows, you might be pleasantly surprised.
I know what you mean about exploring their sound, though. My brother told me the same thing. I wouldn't mind an album with a mix of the old sound in it, too though, instead of just electronic, if you know what I mean. Just a little.Β
I hear a LOT of fans are angry at their new remix album.

alexskyline In reply to Jet-Kai [2013-12-28 20:14:24 +0000 UTC]
My absolute favourite from Minutes has got to be Leave Out All The Rest; Burning In The Skies and When They Come for me from the ATS; and Lost In The Echo, Castle of Glass and I'll Be Gone from the last one. Yeah, I know what you mean about singing along. Only for me it was suddenly making out words of the long-loved songs as my knowledge of English grew. Moments of epiphany, sort of.
I did try it, and while it's not something I would listen on a regular basis (is that an autotune? For fuck's sake, if there's one person who doesn't need autotune, it's Ches), it made me do a little dance on my chair. It would definitely sound nice in a club, and I would much prefer dancing to LP than to some Rihanna.Β Β
If there's one thing I know, fans will always be angry at something. Sometimes it can be perfectly justified, but oh-my-god, it's their remixes of their own songs. If there's one thing they can do for fun, it's this; no one makes anyone love it. Β

Jet-Kai In reply to alexskyline [2013-12-28 20:32:22 +0000 UTC]
Oh they didn't remix them; other artists did.
So what is your first language? Is it Russian? (I'm in a German class right now so German is my second language.)
And yeah, I hate the autotune. My brother grimaced at that when he heard it... And man, if you have good ear buds/headphones, that song kicks it. XD I agree with the Rihanna thing, though I have nothing against her. I just really love my LP
I am also sort of angry at them for going further and further into the modern, mainstream shit of today. I'm not a fan of the electronic stuff; guitars, keyboard and drums are what I prefer. I despise techno... I mean, I'm okay with some of it, but not when it comes to LP.Β
I mean, when it comes to dubstep, Steve Aoki is pretty damn good. But not my LP. None of that! >:U

Oh? I thought it was Reanimation 2.0, my bad...won't even bother with it, then.Β
Yup, it is. English is technically my third language, but I know it way better than my second French.
Yeah, nothing beats physical instruments to me, too. I'm not against good quality electronically made sound (I particularly enjoy Pendulum and Celldweller), as long as it doesn't reduce to generic samples from iApps.Β
But yeeeeah, there's no denial a little trip back to basics wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't have known of him (and a bunch of other awesome bands) if it wasn't for Need For Speed games and their soundtracks. Funny story, there was one song of his with Styles of Beyond, called Shapeshifter: it comes up as I play, and, overlapped with the engine roar, it sounds EXACTLY like LP. So, naturally, I go all OMG WHAT, go into the soundtrack list and try to find them there - nothing. I almost thought I started hearing things. xD
And I really love One Good Reason and Own Little World.

I don't think I have heard those! I have the Soundtrack for the Voices in my Head Volume 2, and one other album, that has Blackstar and Eon on it that... for some reason, isn't Β named, in my iTunes... Eon is a great song though, I love itttt.

That's the album name? I see... Idk why it wasn't named when I put it on iTunes. xD None of the tracks are named, either. But I know the names because I have looked it up. ^^
On a more random note, what do you think about Deadmau5?
