To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Persona. The cultural commentary is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of japanese culture most of the insight will go over a typical playerβs head. Thereβs also Igor and the tarots symbolism, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Kabbalah literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the culture, to realise that theyβre not just entertaining- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Persona truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldnβt appreciate, for instance, the meaning in Morgana's existential catchphrase βGo to Bed,β which itself is a cryptic reference to Vikram Sethβs poem All You Who Sleep Tonight. Iβm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as ATLUSβs genius philosophy unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. π
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Persona tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. Itβs for my girlfriend's eyes only- and even then she has to demonstrate that she's within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid π
